Interesting Experience Social Promotes Idaho Club Efforts

The Liberal Thought club held an after noon experience social at Mrs. FL Gooding's home. Members invited guests and pledged to raise funds for furnishing the Idaho building at the St Louis exposition, each member vowing to earn two. The event featured Longfellow quotes, talks on Longfellow, music by Mrs Goudy and Miss McFall, and amusing money-earning anecdotes.

Ballasting to Begin on Short Line Ahead of Schedule

The Pocatello Tribune reports ballasting will start immediately on the Short Line segments not reached last year. Ties will be distributed as track improvement begins from Pocatello west. By the fifteenth of this month at least fifteen trains will haul gravel along the Marsh Valley attic to spread it west of Pocatello. Remaining sections are the 73 miles from Pocatello to Owipts and a short track from Mountainhome to Weiser. Work on all three stretches starts now and aims to finish within the season.

Ruling tightens final proofs for desert land entries in West

The secretary rejects relaxed proofs for desert land entries in Wyoming and other Western states. Final proof must show actual irrigation capable water supply and productive tillage or hay crops, not just increased grass growth. Water rights and ditch capacity must be proven, with actual cultivation demonstrated unless climate prevents crop success.
