The writer C. B. Steunenberg appeals to The Statesman to oppose John T. Morrison for Idaho governor. He argues Morrison aided Hearst allies in the murder case of Frank Steunenberg, betraying State justice for personal gain, and warns the public of a potential disgrace if Morrison is elected.
The tenth annual session of the grand chapter of Idaho Order of the Eastern Star met in Gooding with over 200 delegates. A public reception featured Mrs. Louise Wilson and Judge Leedham as grand patrons. A musical program accompanied three sessions the next day as new officers were elected. Local wardeners enjoyed strawberry shortcake from home grown berries.
The northeastern county area sees continued influx of dry farm settlers as several thousand acres near Kimama and south of that place fill recently. Rainy spells boost optimism with new arrivals from American Falls and Aberdeen expecting wheat yields around twenty five bushels per acre or more. Many plan to burn over land this summer to ready fields for September and October planting windows.
A historical boundary dispute over Minidoka’s county alignment ends with Minidoka remaining within Lincoln’s dry territory. The dispute arose from county line adjustments and railroad rights that looped east to align taxables, finally keeping Minidoka in Lincoln as legislated.
Editor Bill Kenneau of Hagerman Sun left the helm briefly and Idaho is extolled as paradise in a playful ramble. The piece lauds Idaho’s lakes rivers climate and scenery while rails and harvesters draw waves of travelers to the “land of opportunities” across the continent.
L M Walker of Shoshone demonstrates a 46 foot wind mill irrigation rig with an 8000 gallon reservoir at 240 foot well. It can pump about 300 gallons per hour in fair wind, drying wells previously. If adopted it could irrigate 10 to 15 acres and provide year round water for family stock and garden.
Freight train No. 1063 derailed three miles east of King Till Saturday afternoon as twelve cars left the rails. Brake man Corbett sustained back and shoulder injuries and was taken to Glenns Ferry. Wreckers were sent from Glenns Ferry and Pocatello. Investigators blamed a broken wheel for the high speed crash.
Farmers in Shoehone and adjacent tracts join Idaho Irrigation Company to prepare exhibits for Lincoln County fairs in Shoshone and Boise and later east shows. A league, led by Lyman G Taylor and TB Brush, formed to promote display of grain alfalfa and fruits, with committees by territory and a plan to include state irrigation segregations. The group aims to boost county pride, fair success, and regional development.
On Friday May 31 members of the Woman's Study Club held a pleasant social afternoon. Mrs. John Hunter was honored as guest of the hour and Mrs. GC J Wheeler won a guessing contest of old sayings. Guests selected two meme cards and enjoyed "tight refreshments" with items titled What Taft Enjoys After Dinner and a tree in embryo, a tooth pick and a peanut. Ice cream and cake followed in a light close to the season.
Penniless Cherokee Cherokee Indian Harry Wilson, formerly at Arrow Hook, leaped from Shoshone Falls on March 2, 1905, and died of injuries after surviving the fall. The man, of mixed Cherokee and French descent, had been ill with pneumonia and heart trouble, and was cared for by the county with no known relatives. He carried a medal inscribed with his act at the time of death.

June 10 Gooding Republicans picked E R Evans to run in the upcoming primary for one of Iron Lincoln county seats in the Legislature. A large caucus formed a party club with over a hundred members and strong sentiment for county division and for Borah style Republicanism. Ex Governor Gooding spoke of Borah and warned that retirement of the sea water would be a public calamity, noting Democrats favoring keep him in Washington but election hinges on a Republican majority in the next session.
An attachment filed in the United States District Court names Jolie W Morton M Bell i wood W H Clifford B By Duswalt and others in a suit by Fox tee Crane seeking damages for grading a roadbed along Hagerman Valley for the Hagerman to Boise railroad project. The claim totals 4000, with capitalists from the East showing interest. Attorney Frank T Disney was in Boise last Saturday.
