State Treasurer demands delinquent Idaho counties pay back taxes

State Treasurer WN Coffin has sent letters to 18 county treasurers detailing amounts due the state as of July 1 1904. List includes Bear Lake 912.95, Bingham 958.45, Blaine 5671.64, Boise 1088.10, Canyon 8905.98, Cassia 1995.39, and others. Funds affected include general levy, university levy, wagon road, bond deficiency, and industrial school. Lincoln county stands free of arrears.

Serious Accident At Hailey Involving Restaurant Keeper

Manuel Chaguette a Hailey restaurant keeper suffered a severe injury when a branch train rolled past swinging stock yards gates. He leaned his head through a car window and was struck, leaving him unconscious with a deep scalp wound. Doctors attended him as the train backed to the station. The blow could have been fatal if the train was moving at full speed.

Old Pioneer Richard Hardy Dies in Salt Lake City

Richard Hardy, sixty five, machinist and former Shoshone machine shop foreman, died last Saturday in Salt Lake City from a stroke. His remains reached Pocatello Monday and funeral services were held Tuesday at the Episcopal church, conducted by the Machinists' Union. Survived by his wife, he had worked at Union Pacific, Oregon Short Line, and Pocatello shops after leaving Shoshone.

Shoshone Plant Progress and Republican Primaries

The Shoshone Electric Power and Water Company edge of completion described with a stone and cement powerhouse, pen stock, steel conduit, and a blast-heavy water system set to finish. Costs exceed initial estimates by thousands as blasting and rock removal continue. Republican primaries held countywide with Shoshone tally reaching 173 votes. 154 for the winning slate and 13 for the opposition, delegates named Frank T. Disney and others.

Minidoka Canal Details for Lincoln County Project

The main canal of the Minidoka project along the Lincoln county side will be six miles long nine and a half feet deep fifty feet bottom and eighty eight feet top on level ground. Main laterals are not yet located and will come later. The canal and its waters will cover about sixty thousand acres of land with eighty five thousand acres perfectly level needing little work to prepare for irrigation.
