State Land Board to Visit Stoston March 1

The State land Board will visit Stoston on March 1 to meet settlers and discuss the water problem for this tract. Settlers argue the board can alter water allocations per contract terms, while the fund board denies a contract exists. The matter is in court as the high court may decide if Idaho water contracts are real contracts.

Governor Moses Alexander authorizes seining in Idaho rivers and lakes to curb meat use for World War needs. The order lists waters including Clark's Fork, Clearwater, Boise, and the Snake River with allowed fish such as whitefish, chub, sturgeon, salmon and carp. Red Cross Service Station Planned at Shoshone

Shoshone will host a Red Cross Military Relief Station with Homer Bush of Welser in charge and Mrs. Ed Gooding leading the committee. The unit will supply required items for soldier trains through Shoshone, with advance, secret notifications to the committee, and will be the sole relief station between Weiser and Pocatello.

Enlistment Drive at Gooding Idaho Army Office

An army recruiting officer will be in Gooding Idaho from February 25 to 28 to accept applicants for all army departments. Men aged 18 to 41 who are eligible and physically qualified may enlist, with vacancies in quartermaster, medical, artillery, infantry, cavalry, veterinary, communications, and other lines.
