Community Socials and County Seat Move Noted

District No. 18 events highlight visits from local families and neighbors across Camas County. The Camas county bill passed the legislature, naming Fairfield as permanent county seat to ease travel for county business. PF L Probart fell from a Dietrich building, breaking bones, and was moved to Shoshone hospital for care.

Darrah School District notes and social events

The Darrah School District No 18 reports a surprise party for Mr and Mrs F Burdett at their home last Thursday evening. Walter HI returned to school last Monday after a month out sick from cold weather. A dance occurred at the W C Zeigler home last Saturday. Mrs Bert Calhoun and her daughter Marie are visiting in Bolee.

Shoshone High School Football Triumph and School News

The Shoshone team defeated Gooding 28 to 7 in a fast basketball game after a 16 to 6 halftime lead. The junior squad won 15 to 14 at Hesslin. A school assembly discussed new committees while measles kept Beulah Jones home. Literary societies, senior control progress, and misbehavior cases were noted along with new enrollee Bud Yaden and upcoming public speaking plans.

Likely Sawtooth National Park Bill Aimed North Idaho

The proposal to create a Sawtooth Mountains national park north of Halley advances in Congress. Rep Smith of Idaho reports favorably to the Public Lands committee. Sen Borah has a companion Senate bill. Boundaries would include Stanley Lake Red Fish Lake and Alturas Lake with grazing allowed under existing park provisions.
