Local band planned under T. M. Starrh’s leadership

A meeting in the assessors office organized a band with young men already equipped with instruments. Joe Montgomery, a top music instructor, will train the group. The band aims to perform by Decoration Day with members including Sturgis on clarinet and multiple cornets, altos, trombones, tubas, and drums.

Pleasant Surprise Hostess Honors Cousin at Party

Elya McCollum organized a Monday evening surprise party for cousin Sim Champlain. Progressive crokinole prizes went to Stella Burkill and Arthur Hinson. Dainty refreshments followed as guests, including Margaret Pratt and Lillian Dodge, left warm remembrances of their schoolmate.

Boy 15 Almost Killed Attempting Freight Ride

A fifteen year old boy named Ned Johnson attempted to ride an eastbound freight in the railroad yards Tuesday night about 10. He slipped from the brake beam and fell under the cars. He suffered serious cuts and bruises to his head shoulders and leg. Local officials tended to his injuries and advised caution against such dangerous behavior.

Village Board Meeting in Shoshone Idaho February 1903

The Vilage board met in regular session, approved minutes, and adjourned to February 9 1903. Members J F White, J W Wheeler, F A Burkill, T H Gooding present. Committee to buy gasoline lamps appointed. Officials discussed paying a night marshal and collecting road taxes. Bills for hauling a dead horse and printing ordinances listed. George Ashley, once laid up with a broken ankle, resumed activities.

Vast Twin Falls canal project aims to irrigate Idaho

The Twin Falls Land and Water Company advances the biggest irrigation program in Idaho. A dam at mile twenty-two above Twin Falls will cost 400000 dollars and support two canals totalling 500 miles of laterals. The plan foresees 271000 acres reclaimed, 300000 currently irrigated, and a future Milner townsite housing about 15000 within five years. Major executives and engineers from Utah, Montana, Idaho, and Kansas oversee construction with 500 to 600 workers. The dam project begins after February 15 with a wide top and a crossing bridge already completed.

The couple, witnessed by close friends, see business and family ties with E L Woodworth. The Jourian joins in best wishes for their happiness. Carrie B Albers wed Martin L Kidwell Wednesday evening at the bride's residence before Probate Judge W J Smith. The couple are well known and beloved in Shoshone, with wishes for long and prosperous life.

Lincoln County Idaho invites bids for Thorn Creek bridge
