Trip to Shake River and the Academy of Idaho

A detailed week end visit to Bliss with W J Bolman fruit orchards and melons. Mr D W Yaden hosts a social at Burkhart schoolhouse raising funds for an organ. The Bolman ranch spans 160 acres with diverse crops, irrigation and a rock house. The Academy of Idaho highlights its 1903 04 catalogue, courses, dormitory, and admissions, with emphasis on women’s domestic economy and stenography programs.

Kansas authors visit Shoshone Falls region on mission

Mr and Mrs William Aten White of Emporia Kansas arrived Sunday night to tour Falls and Blue Lakes. The writer known for Bayville Stories praised the Falls irrigation project and Snake River tunnel work. He plans Idaho material for a leading magazine and predicts a strong Roosevelt vote in Kansas.

Chamber of Commerce selects irrigation congress delegates

A Chamber of Commerce meeting elected Jas McMillan and F R Gooding as delegates to the irrigation congress in Ogden next month. Road improvement was discussed and an effort to better local roads will be made. The chamber called a meeting for Tuesday evening Sept 8 to organize the new nel Mr Whittington offered the bee shop as the meeting place. Several important matters were considered before adjournment.

Slick Bros Propel Suspension Bridge on Snake River

Slick Bros are building a large suspension bridge on Snake River below the Malad River confluence to carry irrigation water from Malad across the river to land near Glenus Ferry. Heavy stone piers anchor fourteen 2 inch steel cables. framework positions for the frame were being set when viewed by a Journal representative. The structure appears substantial and costly, strong enough to handle their irrigation flow.

Train mishap at station delays men bound for branch

Join and Will Hunter attempted to board the branch train Monday morning, which hurriedly pulled out before No. 2. Wheat and others noticed the mishap and pursued the train. Conductor Davie signaled the stop from the rear platform, and the men halted near the pump house after a hand cart.
