R L Boyd of Marion Iowa with Fred Bliss and a third man fished Snake River below Salmon Falls at Hager man and hauled a massive sturgeon 8 ft 6 in long weighing 209 pounds with a head of 38 pounds. Large sturgeon are common at Salmon Falls and 1100 pounds is the heaviest authentic record the Journal has heard.

Donald McPhee Dies in Idaho Cabin
Donald McPhee an elderly Shoshone resident was found dead in a chair at Ws cabin this morning. Born in Scotland he sailed earlier in life and worked in sheep businesses in New Zealand California and Idaho arriving with sheep in 1888. He has been totally blind for four years and little is known of his family. The funeral is set for 4:00 this afternoon.

Water Found At Jerome In Goose Creek Irrigation Plan
Water was struck at 340 feet at Jerome boosting local lands and paving a boom in building. The Goose Creek irrigation project aims to reclaim 40,000 acres in Cassia county with a 60 foot dam forming a long reservoir, costing about 100000 dollars, with several farms to be submerged and new offices and hotels planned. Big Land Opening Draws Wide Interest at Rowell Station
State land office reports strong interest in the Carey act lands of 80 000 acres under the Big Lost River irrigation system. The first 20 000 acres will open at Rowell station September 4 under the state land board. Lands priced at 50 cents per acre water rights at 25 to 30 dollars per acre filing fees apply with ten year installments. Murder cast as train crime near Gooding
A dead Austrian man, believed murdered, was found beside a railway track near Gooding. Bedding and toiletries by the body suggest a cleanly housed traveler's life. Investigation to pursue suspects and punishment if murder is confirmed.
