Ross Youngs Memorial Game Draws Crowds in Shiner

San Antonio oldtimers defeated Shiner 8 to 6 in a benefit game for the Ross Youngs memorial fund played Sunday afternoon. McDonald starred in center field for the visitors while Agricola faced protest as too youthful for Shiner and was relieved by Mylius and Muecke. Battery: Holbrook and Liepart for San Antonio. Shiner’s lineup included McDonald, Wolters, Agricola, and Holchak among others. the event drew families, supper followed, and proceeds supported the memorial fund.

Gift Bell Donated to Shiner Church by Wagner Family

Dr and Mrs Francis M Wagner and family presented Sts Cyril and Methodius Church with a 1800 pound bell, total weight over 3000 pounds with frame. The $1500 donation will be blessed during the investiture ceremony for Rt Rev Monsignor Louis P Netardus by Archbishop Crossaerts. date pending. Bell bears inscriptions honoring God and the donors.

Rt Rev Monsignor L P Netareus told a Gazette representative that the investiture ceremony date remains undecided. Papers and documents from Rome are awaited and have not yet been received, delaying determination of the date.

Home Economics Shower and Faculty Reception

The P T A will sponsor a Home Economics Department shower at the High School Friday at 7 30 P M with articles to donate on display in local stores. Garden Club invites members and plans flower show

Shiner joins with towns sponsoring garden clubs promoting home beautification. A special meeting is set for Friday Oct 4 at 3 pm to enlist names and place seed and plant orders for fall. A flower show is planned for the third Wednesday in November as part of Trades Day.

Sudden Death of Frank Roznovsky at 57

Frank Roznovsky 57 died Tuesday from blood poison. Burial will be held Wednesday after funeral services, following his attendance at Trades Day last week. A fuller notice appears in the next issue.

Monster Trades Day draws crowds in Shiner festivities

The first fall Trades Day drew an enormous crowd in Shiner with estimates between five and seven thousand. Shiner merchants offered bargains while Schultz Shiner Band played at main street intersections. The day featured three dances, an accordion contest, and canning exhibits from Home Demonstration Clubs. Prize money totaled 10, 6, and 4 dollars for top exhibits, with multiple individual awards.
