Joe Roeder of Burjes 4-H Club earned multiple prizes at the State Centennial Poultry Department in Dallas. He captured first and second in cock class, first in cockerel, multiple pullet placements, and led in the young trio class, amid entries from four states in a record Southwest show.

Senior Class Sets Motto and Names Room Mothers

The Senior Class met Friday afternoon to choose a motto and select room mothers. The motto chosen is zeal, zealous and zest. Room mothers named are Mrs. Wm. Jaroszewski, Mrs. Fred Krause and Mrs. Chas. McElroy. The group hopes for a prosperous year.

Flood Threat Grows as High Water Surges to Sea

The swollen Colorado River inundated Austin in the early hours of Wednesday. Concho rivers at San Angelo caused the overflow the most, with San Angelo losing about 300 homes and two million dollars in damage as 20 inches of rain fell in a week. Warnings allowed families to move to safety and stock to higher ground while the river neared the sea, raising fears at Wharton Bay City and Coleman county as La Grange expected to crest Thursday.
