Lavaca County Forms Farm Demonstrator Committee

Lavaca county commissioners court on Tuesday morning named a three member committee to select a farm demonstrator, requiring a graduate of the A and M College. The county will cover part of the salary with state and federal aid sought. H J Heye S H Simpson and M I Bozka named. A Farmers Cooperative Demonstration Bureau will be established at the courthouse with the same three as a cooperating committee to secure maximum state aid from the U S Department of Agriculture. Honoring Their Founder at Eastern Star Meeting

The Eastern Star held a memorable Tuesday meeting led by worthy matron Mrs. C. C. Amsler. A founder tribute honored Robi Morris with a biographical sketch by Miss Mabel Merrem, a Morris masterpiece poem read by Mrs. Ella E. Lane, and inspirational musical numbers by Mrs. Joe Hughs at the organ with Stella Wolters on violin and Mrs. Cecile Plageman on vocal. Amsler’s administration aims to boost achievements to a 100 percent standard.

Green School to Host Saturday Clean Up Ahead of Opening

All patrons and friends of Green School are invited to meet at the school Saturday morning for a general cleanup of the building and playground. The effort aims to have the premises ready for the opening next Monday September 24, with Prof. Wilson and his wife in charge of the school.

Annual Catholic Bazaar at Shinert Bluecher Park

Mr and Mrs Louis Bannert arrived home from San Antonio last Saturday and have rooms in the H Wietze home. The Catholic Parish of Shinert Bluecher Park hosts a bazaar on Sunday September 23 with a chicken dinner at noon. Admission to tables is 40 cents for adults and 20 cents for children. Amusements, refreshments, and music on the grounds. Committee invites all to attend.

Faomus Musician to perform in high school concert

Prof Zadok Arkush of Los Angeles will perform a piano concert at the high school auditorium on September 24 at 8 p.m. Arranged by Francis Hamilton Jr. and the Parent Teachers Association. proceeds support the PTA. Admission 35 cents for adults, 15 cents for children.

New Teachers Added to Shiner School Faculty

Our New Teachers Miss Aileen Saunders from Frost Texas. She studied at Baylor Belton and Baylor University and taught at Powell Texas. Miss Saunders specializes in journalism and has years in newspaper work. This summer she was educational instructor at Camp Wabun Anning near Kerrville and edited the camp newspaper. Miss Gladys Tomlinson from Waelder is sixth grade instructor, studied at South Texas State Teacher's College and Kingsville, taught at Riviera. Miss Ollie Letbetter, fifth grade, studied at Baylor Belton, Gonzales home, taught at Sample. Miss Kathleen Goodin, Harwood home, attended South State Teacher's College and Sul Ross, taught at Harper and leads third grade. Miss Edna Reischl, primary, studied at Southwest State Teacher's College, San Marcos, taught three years at Oak Grove. home Moulton. Edgar Birkman of Dallas visited Shiner Saturday.
