Former Mary Ann Scherlen of Gonzales now Sister Mary Elizabeth of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception professed religious vows on a Saturday in New Jersey at Mother of Mercy Convent Chapel. Changes In Marriage License Law Outlined
The new rules require both parties to appear at the County Clerk with state blood tests and proof of age to obtain a license. If either party is under age a father or mother consent is needed with proof of identity, and a guardian may consent by court appointment. The 3-day waiting period is eliminated and the law took effect August 31.
