Camp notes new members and farewell songs

The Camp met with Miss Alma Can on Tuesday night. Miss Emily Schmidt was elected to Membership and also assistant guardian. A farewell to Guardian featured the songs America and Camp Fire. Rales were given for Mrs Lane Ella Plage Man Alice and Emily Schmidt.

Woodmen Camp Considers Break From National Group

In Dallinger Texas a Woodmen of the World convention urged continued opposition to higher head camp insurance rates. Members pledged to persist with regular dues and refuse the base increase. A move to withdraw Texas from the national organization and form a Texas Woodmen camp was proposed.

Population figures for Lavaca County Texas towns 1920

Census release lists Lavaca County Precinct 3 Shiner Hallettsville Yoakum as incorporated places. Shiner town shows 1920 population 1300 up from 1096 in 1910. Hallettsville 1920 population 1444, Yoakum partial 1920 population 8871, with 1910 counts provided for comparison.

Lutheran church to skip services and host festival

There will be no services next Sunday at the Lutheran Em manual Church North Side as the pastor preaches in Houston at a mission festival. The following Sunday the congregation will celebrate its annual mission festival. Mr Wm Koch of the Victoria Section visited the city on business. Carl Welhausen, who left Shiner at the start of summer to visit the East, will stay in New York City with Chase National Bank in the foreign department.

Mr Wm Zappe returned last Monday from San Antonio Beeville and Skidmore. Weather for the past week has been very favorable for picking cotton. If it continues for three weeks more the crop will be safe.

Pythian Sisters Meet After Two Month Vacation

Rathbone Temple No. 78 resumed meetings in Castle Hall after a two month break with strong attendance. Mrs. Ella E. Lane resigned as M. of R. and C. Mrs. S. A. Thulemeyer was elected to fill the vacancy. Miss Ella Schramm praised Lane for longtime service and presented a silver pencil and flowers.
