Last Thursday afternoon from 3 to 6 Mrs. C. B. Welhausen hosted a large bridal party at her home for Miss Elvera Herder, seen as an early fall bride. Ten tables of 42 marked the event with games, prizes given to Mrs. Hugh Keether and Miss Annie Louise Plageman booby. A wedding journal held by the honoree documented three score guests. floral decor was white with hints of pink. A mint basket dessert service and delicate pink trimmed bridal bells completed the reception.

Auto Thieves Target Nash Car In Narrow Miss
Chas Schindler’s handsome Nash nearly vanished last Sunday night when burglars tried to steal it. Locked car saved it. neighbors heard noises around midnight. At 2 AM Eli Willman, across from the Deutsch home, woke to a muffled rattle and saw three suspects flee after attempting to unlock the car for two hours with a ring of keys.

Car Recovered After 1925 Ford Touring Stolen
The 1925 Ford Touring car stolen Sunday night August 12 was found in San Antonio last week. It had its license plate altered and was sold to a San Antonio officer about six weeks earlier. Lee Grasshoff, a San Antonio detective and former Shiner resident, identified the engine number flaw that spurred a wave of auto thefts in the area. The car belonged to Mr. Poenitzsch of Henkbaus dairy and was parked by the fire station the night of the theft. Poenitzsch traveled to San Antonio and retrieved the car after identifying marks. Arrests were made at Cuero and Westhoff last week, with more expected, as authorities believe a theft ring in the region has been broken up.

A Rare Old Bird At Corner Drug Store In City
An American eagle was brought to the Corner Drug Store on Tuesday afternoon where it lay in state as a curiosity. A son of Louis Kneifel Jr. shot the marauder which had raided the Kneisel poultry yard. The dead bird weighed 10 pounds with a wingspan of six and a half feet.

Commercial Club Hears Highway Plans Delay
Last Thursday night a well attended Commercial Club meeting at City Hall was presided by President H. H. Striebeck. C. B. Welhausen, on behalf of the committee, said plans for building a highway await a conference with the State Highway Engineer who had several times been expected to confer but failed to arrive. Three Land Deals in Yoakum Courthouse Deals
Three land deals were closed in Judge Motis law offices in Yoakum Monday morning.
