An Aug Kaspar wire reports the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert L. Kaspar of Oklahoma City. The baby weighs 8 pounds 12 ounces and the father, Pip Kaspar, is proudly joyful.
W. J. Warner of Yorktown is added to the Gazette staff on a permanent basis. He previously served as relief on several occasions and provided efficient service for two months during the former foreman's illness starting July 1. Patrons will find him courteous, aggressive and vigorous in his work.

Public Weigher Roeder reports 3238 bales of cotton received up to Tuesday night September 4. The same date last year was 6708 bales, indicating a sharp year over year decline in receipts.

The Moulton P T A staged a fine program at Shiner's Recreation hour featuring the American Legion Band directed by Editor Knape. Mrs. F C Schmidt led a group from children to adults, with a standout ladies chorus and a pantomime opening. Supt. McDonald urged appreciation for Wm Jaroszewski for promoting and organizing the summer program series.

The Shiner Brewers defeated the Legion Cubs 6 to 3 in a Sugar game before a large crowd from La Vac a Fayette and DeWitt counties. After a shaky start by Bob Berry, Albright sparked four runs in the middle innings to lead the Brewers. Lichey hit the featured home run but was ruled out at second, a call that upset him. Eppy remained ill after the loss as both teams later enjoyed a barbecue hosted by Mr. Spoetzl at the reserve, prepared by Master Barbequer Morris Kroeger.
The Lavaca County Centennial Committee met at the St. Regis in Yoakum to organize County leadership. Ella Lane was elected County Chairman and J. T. Jaeggli Secretary. Chas. McDonald named Historical and Educational Research chairman. Elo Wolters Exhibit Chair and H Simpson Beautification Chair.
The Palace hosts a glossy musical revue featuring many hit songs and a lineup of top stars as the weekend program runs Sunday and Monday. Performers include noted singers and celebrity appearances promise lively entertainment and crowd appeal.
