Eastern Star Honors New Members at Special Meeting
The Eastern Star held an 8:30 P M special meeting to initiate Mr and Mrs Sam McMurry. After initiation a social with ice cream and cake followed, honoring the new members and several recent additions to Shiner Chapter including Mesdames Brunneman Heppler Lichey Moeckel Eschenburg and Misses Moeckel and Eschenburg among many others listed as attendees.

Shiner Auxiliary Reports Progress and New Members
Monday night the Shiner Auxiliary met with Mrs. C. C. Amsler presiding and Miss Matilda Hollmann Lecty. Members reported progress on bed shirts pajamas and bed socks and new members J. C. Blohm Dick son Green R. J. Strauss Mrs Ed Gehrels joined. Donations from Mrs. John Hollmann Mrs. R. A. Hudson and Mrs. Wm Arnold. A knitting class was formed with instructors named. The Red Cross enrollment nears four hundred million with representation across states territories London Havana and Mexico City. Gas-bomb relief for French village cited and aid dispatched from Paris to the stricken area.

Last Wednesday night a swimming party and picnic supper honored Miss Marie Kasper who departs for college in San Antonio. The event featured a fine swim, a bountiful picnic including fried chicken olives salads pickles sandwiches cake and iced tea, and special songs by Kasper Huebner and Kunetka.
