Death of Phil Welhausen Remains Noted in Yoakum
Philip Welhausen 62 died at his Yoakum home Sunday morning at 7. Funeral services were held Monday in Shiner with Rev. Earl Hill and Rev. Paul Bechter officiating. Born August 9, 1874 in High Hill, Fayette County, he lived in Yoakum since 1908 and was a prominent local banker, businessman, and civic leader. Survived by wife Etta Thornton Welhausen and three children Melba, Philip Jr., and Harry of Yoakum. two brothers C B Welhausen and Peck Welhausen of Shiner. one sister Mamie Guittard preceded him. Funeral at Shiner Cemetery with a large turnout and floral tributes. Memorial notes praise his civic work with Yoakum State Bank and Chamber of Commerce. Burial in Shiner cemetery near family. A separate Methodist Ladies Aid meeting featured speakers and guests.

S A Carnes 79 senior member of S A Carnes and Son poultry and feed business of Yoakum died after 18 months illness. He helped build several brick business houses and served as alderman. Survived by wife Mary Ann Nolan two children Avery Carnes Lizzie McKinney four grandchildren and sister Mrs M Massey. Funeral Saturday at home with Rev T N Barton, Methodist Church, Shiner is set for interment.

Henry C Coldewey Sr aged 92 years 11 months and 11 days will be buried in Shiner City Cemetery Thursday afternoon September 3 at about 2 o clock. The funeral procession is expected to arrive from Karnes City at that hour.
