The Camp Fire Girls met Tuesday night with Miss Irma Dziewas reading a letter from two members at Baylor University. Dziewas completed her second rank and will wear the Fire Maker's rank bracelet. Next meeting set for Tuesday October 18 with Miss Annie Louise Plagemann as Assistant Guardian.
The Diamond Trust faces a clever foe as Hileen Sedgwick stars in The Diamond Queen serial of 18 episodes at the Liberty Theatre starting Friday October 14.
Public thanks from Rev. F X Wolf pastor of SS Cyril and Methodius Parish for water gifts during church construction and land donation by C B Welhausen. Gratitude extended to Shiner citizens for efforts in completion. Mrs Edmund Herder visited her mother in Flatonia last week.
The parish prepares for a historic ordination next Sunday October 16 with Rev Paul P Kaspar of Ganado to be ordained a priest by Bishop A J Crossaerts of San Antonio. Services start at 9 am with public invited and a social celebration to follow at Bluecher Park.
Miss Stella Helmers, a teacher in Schulenburg, arrived Saturday for a weekend visit to her parents, staying for a few days before returning.
Captain John G. Hollman his wife and infant have moved to Mexico to supervise engineering and construction work for Pierse Engineering Corporation. They will reside about 75 miles from Mexico City. Hollman has been with the firm since 1909 with prior time in Spain and government civil engineering service in World War I.
The Shiner Cemetery Society will hold an arrival chicken dinner on Saturday October 22 in the Bozka building beside the post office. The public is invited. Mrs. Ella Moeckel visited her daughter last week in Seguin.
The Liberty Theatre opened on Saturday October 1 with three performances. Large crowds attended and both night shows were packed, with about four hundred fifty patrons total. The 210 comfortable chairs were filled, patrons praised the up-to-date presentation and high quality pictures, and proprietors were urged to receive full patronage. Shows run nightly at 7:30 with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3:30.
The couple Longorio and Miss Erna Eschenburg wed at the home of the bride’s parents Mr and Mrs G W Eschenburg on Wednesday October 12 at 10 am Rev A E Rector performed the ceremony. They plan a trip to the groom’s parents near Alice Texas before settling at home in Shiner.
