October 1972 rural traffic toll in the Corpus Christi District reports 10 deaths in 10 fatal crashes across seven counties Hidalgo accounting for four deaths while Aransas San Patricio Refugio Victoria Cameron and Willacy each recorded one. Mrs Charlie A Kurtz Sr of Shiner nee Mary Roznovsky died November 24 at M D Anderson Hospital Houston after a three year illness. Burial followed at Shiner Catholic Cemetery after a Requiem Mass at Sts Cyril and Methodius Church. Pallbearers included grandsons Edward and Gregory Kurtz. She was 70.

Texas farmers and ranchers with losses from a natural disaster since June 30 1971 may qualify for loan cancellations under Public Law 92-385.
