Yoakum postmaster and civic leader J A McFadden died at his East Hugo Street home after a two year illness. Born September 27 1874 in Milford he served in the Spanish American War and was active in church and community work. He leaves wife Alice and two daughters Mary Delk and Sue White along with brothers and a sister. Funeral services were held at 4 pm Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Death of Kristian J Sembera Shiner Resident Dies at 66
Kristian Josef Sembera died Wednesday at 7 p m at his son’s home one mile west of Shiner after a short illness. He was 66 years 1 month and 5 days old and had lived in Shiner for over 30 years. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 30 pm at Eschenburg Funeral Parlor with Svaz Ceskoslovenskych Rac nolister lodge of Houston officiating. Burial was in the city cemetery. Pallbearers named. He was born October 14 1875 in Dolai Hermanice Czechoslovakia and came to the United States at age seven, settling in Flatonia. He and his wife Anna Sonka raised nine children. Surviving: six sons Rudolf Bakersfield CA Adolph Emil Frank Willie Ah ted. three daughters Mrs Rudolf Barta El Campo Miss Olga Sembera Fort Worth Mrs Jimmie Vincik Shiner. one brother Frank Sembera Flatonia. three sisters Mrs Marie Bartos Bomarton Mrs Kristina Barta Beeville Mrs Henrietta Barta Flatonia.
