Mr and Mrs John Janak of Sweet Home celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last Sunday Nov 2. They were married in Fayetteville Texas and spent most of their married life in Lavaca county. Sixty four boys from NYA resident centers in Marshall Waco South Houston San Marcos and Inks Dam have been hired in two weeks by two Texas defense firms. Through Texas State Employment Service training in blueprint reading welding foundry sheet metal and machine shop work 21 from Marshall 20 from Inks Dam 8 from Waco and 4 from San Marcos joined Consolidated Steel Orange as apprentice shipfitters at 66 cents per hour. Eleven more youths from South Houston NYA Center were hired by Hughes Tool Company in Houston.

Retiring naval officer visits family then heads to Seattle

Louis Huebner arrived from Honolulu for a brief visit at the parental home and then proceeded to Flint Michigan where he picked up a car and went to San Francisco to join his family who plan to settle in Seattle after his 24 years of naval service.
