Los Angeles reports Jake Ball a cleaner and dyer sentenced to 250 days in jail for using an American flag to wipe his shop windows. Ball claimed ignorance of the law, but the judge ruled indifference worse than desecration. Defense plans an appeal.

Seniors Host Halloween Party At Alice Pohler’s Class

The Seniors enjoyed a Halloween party delayed by circus plans with Alice Pohler organizing. Fay Fischuar arrived as a tiny witch to hand out tallys, Erwin Stredt won high Bunco score, Willie Hazel Monroe won booby. Virginia honored for the class poem and the prophecy.

Cuero Contends With Dysentery Epidemic Prompting State Inspection

An epidemic of dysentery in Cuero prompted local health authorities to seek a state health officer and dispatch a general inspection of all stores, restaurants, cafes, butcher shops and dairies. Dysentery, often caused by a germ entering via foods, commonly stems from vegetables and milk. boiling milk is advised. Local warnings urge food dealers to clean up before the inspector's arrival.

Ehlers Family Leaves Lavaca for California Home

Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Ehlers and family and Mr. and Mrs. Chas Behlen depart by auto for California their future home. Ehlers has lived near Shiner about 88 years and their farm home for 21 years. The Gazette notes their move, with Ehlers advancing his subscription two years while funds allow. Lavaca County regards them as substantial citizens.

County Fair Postponed Until Late November
