Los Angeles reports Jake Ball a cleaner and dyer sentenced to 250 days in jail for using an American flag to wipe his shop windows. Ball claimed ignorance of the law, but the judge ruled indifference worse than desecration. Defense plans an appeal.
The Seniors enjoyed a Halloween party delayed by circus plans with Alice Pohler organizing. Fay Fischuar arrived as a tiny witch to hand out tallys, Erwin Stredt won high Bunco score, Willie Hazel Monroe won booby. Virginia honored for the class poem and the prophecy.
An epidemic of dysentery in Cuero prompted local health authorities to seek a state health officer and dispatch a general inspection of all stores, restaurants, cafes, butcher shops and dairies. Dysentery, often caused by a germ entering via foods, commonly stems from vegetables and milk. boiling milk is advised. Local warnings urge food dealers to clean up before the inspector's arrival.
Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Ehlers and family and Mr. and Mrs. Chas Behlen depart by auto for California their future home. Ehlers has lived near Shiner about 88 years and their farm home for 21 years. The Gazette notes their move, with Ehlers advancing his subscription two years while funds allow. Lavaca County regards them as substantial citizens.

The Hartmann family held a 71st birthday reunion for Mrs. Aug Hartmann Sr at the family home on November 3. Surrounded by relatives from Shiner and from Moulton, including Mr. and Mrs. Willie Schodde, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Huff, Mrs. Gus Hoff and daughter, and Miss Hilda, the gathering feasted and wished her many happy returns.

The Colorado County Fair and Cowboy Contest are postponed to November 24 25 and 26 due to continued rains making grounds soggy and county roads nearly impassable. The full program and rodeo will proceed as planned, with dates moved two weeks later in the month.
The American Legion post launches its annual membership drive. Members explain joining shows the stamp of an American identity and pride in serving the country. Thousands of veterans who have not yet joined are applying, eager to demonstrate their service and continue the Legion’s work.
The Liberty Theatre presents Norma Talmadge in The Song of Love at 7 30 PM. The American Legion hosts a Legion Park dance with Schultz Orchestra the same night. Admission 50 cents.

Mrs A A Schramm hosted the XX Century Club meeting on November 5 with twenty members and three guests present. Officers reported, rest room duties reassigned, and a program on Jupiter Olympian Zeus given by Mrs Wendarland Jr. The lectures covered Juno Hero of Argos and Minerva The Minerva of the Parthenon with Phidias, Brieger, and Amsler contributing. The next gathering is set for November 19 with Mrs Elo Wolters as hostess.

Alfred Stoeltje won seven prizes for S. C. Dark Brown Leghorn chickens and five for S. C. Buff Leghorns. Hugo Stoeltje earned three prizes for S. C. Dark Leghorn and two for Narragansett turkeys. H W Miller received two prizes for S. C. Mottled Anconas and R A Dreyer won a prize for a White Holland turkey hen.
