Death of James Ellis Paulus in Yoakum car crash
James Ellis Paulus, 41, longtime state office worker and Hallettsville native, died after a car accident near Gonzales while en route from Yoakum to attend matters there. He served in World War I, worked in tax collection, and was married to Carrie Alda McElroy. Survived by wife, mother, one sister Julia Hale, and three brothers.
