Kolar-Stanek Post announces a big Armistice Day Celebration with merchant co-operation and a double page ad in today's Gazette. The feature outlines the program and invites all to join in the holiday event to support the Buddies in recovery from past flood losses.
Monday afternoon a PTA meeting completed carnival business with reports from committees. Bills were paid and the Hallowe en carnival netted 173.98 and the Queen's race 114.71, totaling 288.69 in clear profit. Next meeting is November 9 at the High School Reporter.
The Shi ner business community will close for Armistice Day on November 11, a Saturday. Stores will shut Friday night and remain closed until Monday morning November 13, requiring shoppers to complete purchases on the preceding day.
The Hallowe'en Carnival and Queen's Coronation last Friday night drew strong praise from the faculty and P T A. Some student disappointment stems from the review being deferred to next week. The Gazette had run extensive publicity before the event and explains the delay in reporting.

The grand match was led by Mr. and Mrs. Victor Stindt. Since last report hospital patients include Miss Marie Marek Emil Jungbauer Geo Lee Lockstedt Lloyd Lockstedt Mrs Chas Miculka Julius Anderle Lillie Hubner Louis Nagelmueller Mrs Aug Netardus and Evelyn Billimek of Witting Mrs Herbert Strich Waelder Miz Frank Shortner El Campo and Willie Offrien of Shiner.
Relief administrator in Shiner next Tuesday offers countywide relief services. Victor Dziewas invites anyone in need to apply at the old city hall in Shiner between 10 and 12 o'clock Tuesday morning November 7. He also maintains a general Hallettsville office and will be in various county points on that date.
Postmaster Koether announces the arrival of Mrs. Chas Lon Goria to fill the local Post Office vacancy. The scribbler lady, long associated with Miss Erna nee Eschenburg at the Shiner Post Office, brings proven experience, efficiency, and public regard. Officials expect her speedy handling of holiday mail as the Christmas rush approaches.

Friends report Mrs M E Wolters underwent a serious eye operation at Santa Rosa hospital in San Antonio Tuesday afternoon with a successful outcome. Also, funeral services were held Wednesday for Mrs Rub Kasper, cousin of Mr F H Cervenka, at Ganado Catholic cemetery.
The Shiner Business Men's Club met at 7 with a steak supper at the Royal Cafe. President Kaspar announced the death of Elvin George Koether, observed a moment of silence, and Mrs. Lane delivered a tribute. A floral offering was approved, Halloween Carnival plans urged cooperation, and a Post Office letter about mail service was read. Mrs. Lane thanked the club for payroll support, and Vice President Denmark presented the secretary with a silver shower and extended an invitation to stay as secretary.
A letter dated October 26 1933 from Shiner Texas reports the Railway Mail Service will establish pouch service effective November 1 following a request by the Business Men's Club and others. The author credits local support for the decision and notes the Department will incur expenses contrary to the administration's economic program.
The Shiner Baptist Church invites the public to worship next Sunday with services at 11 AM and 7 30 PM. Pastor Rev R C Steinhoff says the morning sermon will be helpful to all Christians and an evangelistic message will be preached at night, with church membership hoping for a good turnout on the first Sunday of the month.
The Methodist Ladies Aid met at 3 p m at Mrs Ernest Hajek’s home with President Mrs Cecile Plageman presiding. Twenty members attended as Scripture Romans 16 to 19 was read and a bill of 72 70 was approved for paint and lumber for church renovation.
The Gazette reports Mr. Chas. Eschenburg has shown improvement after a period of illness last week.
