Mrs Theresa Reischl Dies In Moulton At 88

Mrs Theresa Reischl died Monday in Moulton at age 88 years 3 months 10 days. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Moulton Catholic Church. Survivors include seven children Wenzl Reischl Stanis Reischl Mrs Frank Neisler Electra Mrs Joe Horelica Houston Mrs Anton Schaefer Shiner Mrs John Antrich and Mrs Wm Schaefer Moulton along with 38 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Waligura Konvicka Wedding Planned at Local Church

A local Catholic church will host the wedding of Miss Louise Konvicka and Ralph Waligura this Thursday at 9 am officiated by Rev. E J Bily. Attendants include Rudy Kurtz and Chas Waligura. The bride will wear white satin with orange blossoms, veil, and a white glass and gardenia bouquet. Angeline Konvicka, the bride’s sister, will be the flower girl in white satin. The couple, from prominent local families, will host a wedding dinner afterward and depart on a bridal trip seeking a life of happiness.

Brother of Mrs. M. E. Wolters Passes Away

John C. Baumgarten age 67 of Schulenburg died Tuesday at 12 30 a m in a local hospital. Funeral held Wednesday at 3 p m from the family home with burial in High Hill cemetery. Survived by wife one son three daughters two sisters Mrs Gus Rahman Schulenburg and Mrs M E Wolters Shiner two brothers Gus and William Baumgarten of Schulenburg. The Gazette extends sympathy to the family.

Katherine Vondra died after a long illness on Wednesday May 20 at 9 30 am in Shiner. Funeral mass was held May 22 at 9 30 am from her home with Rev E Bily officiating and burial in the local Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were her cousins John Anton Frank Julius and Albert Dolezal and John Stanek. Born May 25 1893 at Sweet Home she lived in the Shiner area after 1920. She was survived by aunts uncles and cousins. parents preceded her in death. The Gazette offers sympathy to mourners.

First Solemn Communion Held Sunday at Parish

On Pentecost May 24 thirty eight children of the parish received their solemn Holy Communion. The Pastor Rt Rev Monsignor Nettardus celebrated Mass and urged the children to remain faithful to Baptismal vows renewed before Mass. Navy Welcomes James Buske for Recruit Training in Illinois

James Fertsch Buske, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Buske of Shiner Texas, arrived at Great Lakes Naval Training Station to begin recruit training. He will undergo aptitude tests to decide his next assignment whether to attend service schools, be deployed at sea, or report to another naval station.

The event featured a student orchestra under Mrs Thulemeyer, Salutatory by Florine Dolezal, Valedictory by Irene Westphal, and a flawless saxophone trio. August Darilek Jr played a trumpet solo as honors were awarded. Calvin Krause received the Patek Memorial Trophy for basketball. Numerous scholarships and department honors were announced for the class.

Baccalaureate Service for Shiner High Graduates

Rev Vernon Perry delivered a timely sermon to Shiner High School graduates Sunday night in the gymnasium. A large crowd heard the message from the local Methodist pastor as the choir directed by Mrs Joe Hughs sang two anthems. The gym was decorated with gladioli and fern, with Mrs H G Hollmann in charge of decorations.
