Last Rites for Richard Braun Held Friday

Richard Braun 64 years old died suddenly Tuesday May 12 at 8 am. A German-born farmer long resident of Lavaca County, he lived in Shiner and was a member of the Sons of Herman Lodge No 20. Funeral Mass was at Shiner Catholic Church with interment in the Shiner Cemetery. He is survived by wife Veronika and children Julia, Mary, John, brother Otto, and five grandchildren.

Miss Hilda Hauschild Passes Away Tuesday

Hilda Ida Hauschild died May 19 at 1 a m at Valley Baptist Hospital Harlingen after a short heart illness. Services were at Grace Lutheran Church Harlingen with burial at Shiner City Cemetery after a service at United Dr Martin Luther Church. Pallbearers were nephews Edwin Jaehne Weldon Clause Raleigh Cook Elo Hauschild George Turk Jake Turk. Survived by brothers Louis Seguin Henry Shiner John Harlingen Rudolph San Angelo and sisters Mrs Gus Jaehne Mrs Jim Turk Shiner Mrs Walter Klaus Yoakum Mrs Homer Burkett Hattie Hauschild Floresville. Death of Mrs Christina Bengsch Lavaca county elder dies at 81

Mrs Christina Magdelena Bengsch aged 81 years 11 months 17 days died May 13 1942 at the home of her son Emil near Shiner. Funeral held at Emil Bengsch residence then at Charlottenburg Lutheran church with Rev. Filachmeier officiating. Survived by two sons Emil Willie and several daughters and stepchildren. Interment Charlottenburg cemetery with numerous relatives from San Antonio Caldwell and other towns attending.

Demonstration On War Gases By U S Experts At Yoakum

Joe E. Kolos, Yoakum air raid warden, arranged a war gases demonstration at Yoakum High School auditorium on Wednesday night May 27 at 8 pm. Army experts from Foster Field Victoria Texas and Lt Geo Nader will present on first aid for victims and gas defense.
