Title VII Birthday Party at Shiner Nutrition Center

The Title VII Nutrition Center of Shiner held its monthly birthday party at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday April 28 1977 honoring Emilie Panus Sophie Matejek and Minnie Brooks. Attendees included Annie Barcak Emil Berger Linda Berger and many others plus special guest Mrs Evelyn Hoffmann. Minnie Brooks a homebound participant received a birthday cake at her home. The Senior Citizens thank the High School band and director Ronnie Pfeil for entertaining them.

Legion Post 201 and Auxiliary Represented At District Meet

The 9th District Spring Convention of the American Legion and Auxiliary was held April 23 and 24, 1977 in League City with Post 554 as hosts. Delegates registered, the colors were advanced, and speeches by district and auxiliary leaders followed. Officers were elected, Hallettsville chosen for the Fall Convention, and several Shiner and Yoakum members attended.

Judy Pesek Accepted for UGA Cortona Study Abroad

Miss Judy Rose Pesek will join the University of Georgia Studies Abroad Program in Cortona Italy sponsored by the UGA Department of Art and Environmental Design. She is among about 20 interior design students nationwide and joins a group of roughly 90 art students including art history drawing environmental design and sculpture. A 3.0 GPA in art-related courses was a prerequisite for acceptance.

University student to study Italian design in European program

Miss Pesek, UT Austin interior design junior with high grades, will receive 10 transfer credits after a portfolio review by a University of Georgia panel. She joins a summer study tour departing NYC June 13 for Paris and Cortona near Florence, visiting Italian cities and design studios before returning August 29 with mentors from ASID and honors program credentials.
