A. Chapman reports Lavaca County census results indicate each precinct loss since 1920 1930 comparison. Shiner Precinct 3 and the county town alone show gains while overall counts feed into national population totals and House reapportionment after decades.
A Yoakum Tom Tom Motorcade arrived Thursday afternoon to a large crowd in Shiner with Mrs. Frank Beck as yell leader and H D Meister of the Yoakum Herald as master of ceremonies. The procession featured decorated cars, Tom Tom placards, and distributed program booklets and advertisements. The Shiner duchess and rural community prepared rai ment and robes for the celebration on May 38 to 81, aiming to boost attendance.

Mrs L E Denmark and Mrs Ernest Hajek hosted a Friday bridge party from 3 to 6 PM honoring Miss Leonida Schuhmann bride elect of the season. Out of town guests included Miss Annie Laurie Denmark and Mrs George Rogge. High score prize went to Mrs Hugh Koether who presented it to the bride. A telegraphic contest produced a gift for Mrs Edwin Wolters. A light salad course with cake closed the afternoon as Miss Merrem toasted the guest and hinted at an upcoming wedding.
Mrs. E J Merrem was summoned to San Antonio last week to be at the bedside of her sister Mrs Dorcas Thornton. Mrs A Schlottmann who has visited her daughter Mrs B Stratman returned to Giddings Saturday.
The new city auditorium proved insufficient for the baccalaureate service honoring the class of 1930. Dr. John A Held of Waco delivered a sermon titled Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. The ceremony featured a 20 piece orchestra and 15-voice choir under directors Mrs S A Thulemeyer and Mrs Wm Wendtland Jr.
A customer traded in a low mileage, nearly new 1929 Chevrolet Coach for a Sedan. The car features a Smart line, blue black Duco finish, Fisher body, and new car performance with dependable service. Down payment is convenient with small monthly installments.

The Shiner Cooperative Shipping Association sent two carloads of mixed cattle hogs and sheep to Fort Worth on May 12 led by L M Roeder. In all 53 cattle from 23 farmers 35 hogs from 20 farmers and 14 sheep from 4 farmers were shipped. Hog prices averaged near 9.50 while sheep sold around 6.50 with one 8.00 sheep from Geo Kallus. Cattle prices ranged from 5 to 7 with Elwin Koether toping the market at 540 pounds for 10.50. Next shipping date is June 9.

It became known Tuesday that Wm Jaroszewski was transferred back to Temple Lumber Co. yard at La Grange, drawing universal regret for losing this estimable family from the community. O. S. T. Meyer is to be returned to the local yard from El Campo.

A petition presented to the commissioners court in Columbus requests a voter referendum on issuing 425000 in bonds to build permanent roads in commissioner precinct No 4 Eagle Lake and Alleyton. About 175 signers anticipate a mid July election, following a near miss on April 26.
