Senior Class Play a City Auditorium Hit What Happened to Jones

A large crowd attended the Senior Class Play What Happened to Jones at the city auditorium. Jerry Turek provided top performances as Jones while Ella Stratman wowed as boys and men and Miss Emilie Locke impressed as the Bishop of Ballaret. Cast members included Olen Mittanck Richard, Otto Sofka as policeman, Norbert Tassler as big chief, Henry Heger as superintendent, Annie Sluter as Mrs Goodly, Alice Henkhaus as Cissy, Gladys Rogge, Violette Behlen as Menerva, Lucile Turek as Alvina Starlight, Pearl Coston as the Swedish servant girl, with juniors delivering clever specialties and an acclaimed high school orchestra under Mrs Thulemeyer. Gross receipts totaled 132 dollars.

Shiner Baptist Church sets preaching at 11:00 A M and 7:30 P M next Sunday the first Sunday of the month. Sunday School begins at 10:00 with Pastor Fraser leading.

Rev. H. E. Spitzenpfeil was a pleasant caller at our office Monday morning. His May appointment is his last as pastor of the Emmanual Lutheran Church as he only entered to serve 9 months. He plans to return to Concordia Seminary in St. Louis to resume his theological studies. At Mrs. Louis Ehlers birthday celebration, E. J. Tomasco and wife and Max Ehlers of Houston attended along with John Simicek and family of Orange Grove, P. H. Hagens and family of Luling, Herman Gloor and family of Gonzales, Walter Ehlers and family of Yoakum.

Seniors Enjoy A Picnic Day Off In Gonzales

A group of twelve seniors with Miss Sanders met at the Stratman home for a lunch before a trip in several cars. They planned to count horses, visited a camping ground near the Guadalupe River, took photos, enjoyed a noon meal, swam at Moore's pool, and ended with ice cream. The day was praised as the most fun day off, with Miss Sanders named the best sport.

Boundary Line School Program Next Saturday Night

The Boundary Line School will present a program next Saturday night May 4 at 8 oclock. Music will be by Happy Three. The program includes drills recitations dialogues songs and playlets. Admission is 25 cents for adults 10 cents for children. Everyone is urged to attend.

Giddings Adopts Motor Car Service on SAP Line

Giddings residents noted a steamboat appearance as the first SAP line motorcar service through town replaces two daily steam passenger trains. The motor trains keep the same schedule and add baggage mail and express transport. An engineer praised the change saying the motor car is smoother, faster, and safer with no fireman and better weather protection.
