Emil Boenning of Hochheim appeared as a witness in Justice court in Shiner on Tuesday. A basketball game between Moulton and Shiner girls was played last Saturday at the school house despite bad weather, with Moulton winning.
By authority of Texas law and town ordinances an election is ordered in Shiner Lavaca County on Tuesday May 7 1908 for town officers aldermen marshal and other listed offices with Chris Wagener as election officer Louis Trautwey Shiner Texas
A. Carnes & Son advertiser offers 30c for hens and 25c for fryers, 7c for turkeys, and invites customers to bring eggs. They claim to pay the highest prices in spot cash and are located atEhiner and Yoakum.
Mrs Beaumier, recently arrived from Navasota with her uncles Pipkin and J W Leake, is staying with Mr and Mrs W J Miller. She thanks the grand jury for its action and plans to make her home in Nava. Her health remains poor and the case against Mrs Nannie Beier who is charged with the murder of her husband continues unresolved.
After five months studying German Literature the Twentieth Century Club paused on Thursday for an entertaining afternoon hosted by Mrs. C B Welhausen. The program featured piano duets comics and poetry readings with autograph exchanges and a small prize for the guest with most autographs. A business meeting planned to resume lessons on Germany next Thursday with chapters 10 and The Book Trade of Leipzig. Invitations to April 15 and April 16 were announced.
The county democratic executive committee met at the courthouse with large attendance. Officers were elected, vacancies filled, and steps planned to call precinct conventions to select delegates for state and national meetings. Enthusiam ran high as supporters expected a strong Democratic showing in Lavaca County.
Friends urge Lovie Wagener to run for commissioner in precincts B and 7. The effort aims to persuade him to stand in the upcoming election.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm Tomasco were in the city this week visiting relatives and friends. The Methodist Ladies Aid Society met Tuesday evening at Mrs Fry's residence and elected officers: President Mrs J C Mabermaeher Vice-president Mrs Wm Herms Secretary Mrs H A Woods Treasurer Mrs S A Thulemeyer.
