Elizabeth Jungbecker, longtime Shiner resident born in Colorado County, marked her 73rd birthday last Friday. She is mother to six living children, including E F Rubman and Clara Moore, with 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her family and friends wish her many more birthdays as she remains in good health.

Rainbow Division Fights Fiercely in Trenches
General Pershing reports the Rainbow Division led the recent trench combat and repulsed a German raid on March 5. The division is France’s first National Guard unit serving as volunteers, with 3 000 Texans making up the Raisbory division. Red Cross Notes Log Tuesday Meeting And Volunteer Shifts
The Red Cross held a regular meeting Monday night with poor attendance. New members Missey Kolar Pauline Kolar and Anice Brown joined. Donations reported Mesner one dollar and two hundred fifty two dollars fifty cents. Knitted items sent to Houston included 25 sweaters 86 pair wristlets and bed socks plus one helmet. Saturday afternoon workers are to be dispensed with. Tuesday night work moved to Wednesday due to a picture serial. Jurors departed for Hallettsville to serve in the district court but were discharged after 11 weeks.

Mr and Mrs H Hallovan Sr thank friends and neighbors for help in locating their daughter Matilda who wandered from home last Saturday. She had measles and complications and had returned to school before full recovery. She is much improved and they express gratitude for aid and sympathy.

William Dixon Green left San Antonio for Paris Island South Carolina where he was accepted in the Marine Service of the army. He has spent two years overcoming difficulties that barred his voluntary service to the country and his patriotism is expected to earn him many laurels in Uncle Sam’s service.
