Independence Day Celebration at Legion Park in Shiner

The annual Independence Day celebration at Legion Park Shiner scheduled for Sunday July 4 offers 2:30 p.m. entertainment for all ages with a 3 p.m. lunch of sandwiches cakes and kolaches. Benefit Dance for Hallettsville American Legion

Rites Held For Kaminski Infant

Funeral services were held for John Michael Kaminski, day old son of Mr and Mrs Theodore Kaminski of 1010 East Houston Street Highlands Texas. The Rev Maurice Cho officiated at Earthman Funeral Home. Burial followed at San Jacinto Memorial Park Cemetery. The infant was born June 14 in a Baytown hospital and died June 15. Survivors include grandparents Mr and Mrs W Kaminski of Highlands.

Balajka Rites Held For East Bernard Resident

Ignac J Balajka 76 of East Bernard died June 16 after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held June 18 at Urbish Funeral Home and Holy Cross Church. Interment followed. Balajka, born in Czechoslovakia, came to America at 12, married Mary Kubicek, and lived in Moulton Hillje East Bernard and Wharton areas. Survivors include his wife five daughters and several relatives.

Monument Builders Ass'n Elects Pesek Director

Robert J. Pesek owner of R. J. Pesek Memorials in Hallettsville was elected a director of the Monument Builders of the Southwest at a convention in Austin June 13 15. He attended with Mrs. Pesek and son Thomas. A 12 mile boat ride on Lake Austin and a fish fry were enjoyed with prizes including Mrs. Pesek receiving 25 dollars in cash and a marble tie clasp and cuff link set.

Sembera Shines as Sonics Crush Tulsa 11 2 in Pot ter County

Carroll Sembera pitched his second complete game for the Amarillo Sonics as they routed the Tulsa Oilers 11 to 2 in the final game of an eight game home stand.
