The Kolar-Stanek Post, No. 201, American Legion extends thanks to all who aided the Flag Day parade and events. Appreciation is voiced for organizations individuals volunteers ground work business suspensions donations speakers musicians park and grounds use. Miss Elsie Pannewitz vacationing in Galveston.
Miss Norma Wehmann and Alfred Otto Nollkaemper wed at the Lutheran church with Rev. W C Wolfsdorf officiating. After a wedding supper guests visited the bride's mother's home before the couple departed for a honeymoon in Galveston and then to Yoakum, where they will reside. The groom works at Yoakum State Bank.
The Lavaca County Red Cross Home Service Section thanks Kolar Stanek Post No. 201 American Legion for securing the tent for the Bureau of Information during the June 14 celebration. The bureau uncovered two cases: a soldier entitled to compensation and medical treatment, and a widowed mother owed funds by the government, valued as important for homes.
The Lavaca County Retail Merchants Association held its annual convention and banquet in Shiner on Thursday night at Crystal Cafe starting 7 30 PM with 100 plus members and guests. Attendees came from Hallettsville Moulton Yoakum Sweet Home and Schulenburg with W J Heye and Walter Stalken presiding. The event featured reports on the Denison State Convention and talks on cooperative selling and supporting farmers, with Miss Stella Wolters James Michna Perry Wendtland and Mrs Joe Hughs providing orchestral entertainment.
Next Sunday morning at 11 o'clock and at night Rev. A. E. Rector will fill his regular appointment. Public cordially invited to both services.
John Lehmann Sr. died Saturday night at his home in Giddings after a brief illness and passed Sunday at age 87 years 10 months and 2 days. He leaves his wife six children two of whom predeceased him and a brother Ernst Lehmann of Thorndale with many grandchildren and relatives.
Herman Meyer of Cuero pled guilty in Cuero District Court to violating the liquor law and received a one year sentence in the penitentiary. Eight indictments were listed, seven were dismissed after the sentence was imposed in the first case.
Mrs. Arthur Fishnar entertained the St Elizabeth Society last Tuesday afternoon. Members present included Mesdames Henkhaus Kasper Pohler Zappe Kram Blaschke Heinsohn Seims and Misses Agnes Fishnar Pauline Schaefer. Guests were Mrs Pohler of Moulton and Miss Frieda Henkhaus. Refreshments were served and all enjoyed a delightful afternoon.
Cordial invitation extended to DeWitt and Lavaca County residents to Yoakum Civic League open air party in park grounds opposite the Rest Office on July 5 1920. Two hours or more of delightful entertainment promised.
Barbers O Dittmar and John Baros announce all future work in their shops will be paid in cash from July 1 1920 to simplify bookkeeping and collections.
