To advertisers The Gazette will go to press next Tuesday morning for the next issue rather than Wednesday. The Fair opens Wednesday and the office will be closed all day. Notices for next week's issue should arrive by Saturday if possible, but no later than Monday morning.
Tonight and Thursday at the Airdome feature William Duncan and Edith Johnson in No Defense with a wartime twist on Enoch Arden. A picture of camps, society, mounted life and politics follows, plus a comedy Yaps ha Yokels and a focus on San Francisco and the Indian Northwest.
An added feature ties to the attractions of the roping contest with a calf rope or pine themed challenge each day of the fair. The brief item notes daily contests enhancing the program and audience interest at the event.
The public is invited to inspect Miss Shiner and her trousseau at Corner Drug Store on Saturday June 23 and at St Lud Mila's School Booth during the Fair. The display features paintings fancy work and curios with many items for sale to benefit the school library.
Those with flowers to display at the Fair should bring them Monday and Tuesday June 25 and 26. The committee will be there to receive them.
The Shiner Fair Boosters in 18 wutes toured Hallettsville on Tuesday morning led by the American Legion Band. After a 20 minute stay they announced their Fair of June 27 80 and performed several selections before continuing their scheduled stops.
Dr. J. M. Carroll from San Antonio arrived yesterday and preached at the Baptist Church last night. He will continue preaching tonight Sunday and Saturday night with services through Sunday morning and night. Those who recall his strong commencement address will welcome another opportunity to hear him.
The Senior Camp Fire Girls met Monday to finish arrangements for their Fair parade float with Miss Iona Mae Striebeck. Ice cream and cake were served as refreshments, and excitement spread as Princess Iyega slipped from the group to join the Valenta Wigwam, contributing a local and festive touch to the community celebration.
The Btores except cold drink stands and drug stores will close all day on the first day of the fair and close at noon on the second and third days. The public is asked to take notice of the schedule changes.
Those wishing to exhibit livestock or other goods must bring them in the afternoon of June 26. A watchman will guard the grounds day and night. If items cannot be brought June 26, deliver them early morning June 27.
Chairmen of all departments are urged to ensure every exhibit is numbered and that no entrant name appears on any exhibit until after the Judging. This directive applies to all departments to maintain impartiality in the judging process.
The price of admission to the Fair grounds will be 15 cents for children and 35 cents for adults good all day.
Two parades will be held on the first and second days. Don’t miss either event as organizers urge audience participation and citywide viewing.
