The Twentieth Century Club voted to discontinue its regular program and meet at the Red Cross Rooms for Red Cross work. Miss Agnes Koniakovsky led the day’s lesson, the concluding chapter of Tennyson’s Princess. Next meeting planned June 20 at four to six.

Roscoe Canon Visits City En Route to Sublime
Roscoe Canon of Shiner spent Wednesday afternoon in our city en route to Sublime to visit relatives. He returned to Shiner yesterday and sits with New Orleans. He is the second eldest son of City Marshal J. M. Canon of Shiner. their eldest son Roy M. Canon serves in the U S Army with the First Texas Cavalry recently formed at Yoakum.

Serious Accident Near Miss for Alfred Jungbecker
Last Friday at 5 30 p m Alfred Jungbecker riding a bicycle collided with a transient roadster on the street. He suffered head injuries and was unconscious for hours before being taken to Shiner hospital where Dr Schulze treated scalp wounds. Friends report injuries are not internal and he should soon resume his store duties.

Hoffmann Dead In New Braunfels Local News
A. Hoffmann died in New Braunfels Texas on Wednesday after a short illness. The funeral was held at 10 this morning at Comal cemetery with Rev. G. Rhitiweg officiating. Hoffmann, born in Silesia, was active in town affairs as alderman school trustee and mayor and helped build the water system. He is survived by his wife Minnie Homann and several children and grandchildren.
