Co-Operative Shipping Report From June Shipment
The Shiner Co operative Shipping Club sent three carloads of cattle sheep and hogs to Fort Worth on June 9. Market conditions were weak for cattle and sheep with prices uneven though hogs sold at steady to strong levels. Sixty five cattle averaged 3.00 to 7.00 with top sheep at 8.00 and some as low as 2.00. One hundred forty eight sheep were shipped by ten farmers. Hogs topped at 9.60 with most at that price. forty seven hogs were shipped by sixteen farmers.

German-born Yoakum resident Mueller 86 dies at home
Yoakum area man John Henry Mueller 86 died at his Dreyer home. Funeral services were held by Rev. Pfennisser of Shiner Lutheran Church. Interment in Herman Sons cemetery. Born in Oldenburg Germany he came to Texas in 1868 settling in Flatonia. Married December 14 1902 to Mrs Johann Eilers. Survived by wife one daughter Mrs Louis Zenka of Dreyer one step daughter Mrs Rudolph Mueller of Concrete one step son August Eilers of Yoakum and sister Mrs Fred Koepke of Shiner.

Narrow escape for Near-Serious Car Crash Victims
Henry Strauss Jr and sister Miss Tillie survived a Sunday night car rollover near Hallettsville while returning to duties at the New Era Herald. They were treated at Shiner after a farm neighbor ferried them there. Tillie suffered head bruises and hand stitches while Henry had back and head injuries. Both remained at home with parents Otto and Mrs Strauss Monday.

Potato Crop Brings Thousands of Dollars in Eagle Lake Area
The potato crop, the last cars of which will be shipped today, is conservatively estimated to bring in about 562 500 dollars to the Eagle Lake to Glen Flora potato section. Based on a 900 car crop at an average price of 625 dollars per car this figure marks a conservative estimate. Of this amount about 175 000 dollars will go to firms and individuals outside Eagle Lake. The crop is expected to stimulate business locally for weeks.

New Highway To Shiner Soon To Be Open To Traffic
County Commissioner Doc Burkett says favorable weather will allow the Yoakum Shiner highway grade to be finished in two to three weeks so traffic can pass the full Yoakum to Shiner distance. He estimates completing the Grade on end of highway 72 toward Mustang Creek will take about three months.
