After a prolonged illness Mrs. Eliza Welhausen died suddenly last Sunday evening about 6 30 o'clock in Shiner. Her funeral is set for Friday evening at 4 o'clock June 17, due to her son Charles being in New York. The community mourns her loss and a full obituary will appear in the next issue.
Immanuel's Evangelical Lutheran Church will have no services on the 19th as the pastor is designated to install Rev Stoppenhagen. Next Sunday there will be services with Holy Communion. preparatory service begins at 9 45 a m. Announcement for Holy Communion requested during the week. H C Biermann, Pastor.
Crop conditions across Texas are described as the best for the season in many years, based on reports to the Texas Industrial Congress. Timely showers and May favorable weather, plus rains in early June, improved all crops and left abundant sub-soil moisture in every region.
The Moulton Independent School District board elects a new staff for the coming scholastic session. T N Powell will serve as superintendent, joined by Miss Helen Ruhman principal and several teachers from Shiner Luling Waller Yorktown Moulton and other towns. Temporary arrangements include Miss Valentina Marik absenteeism and Mr Arthur Krueger replacing her.

A called East ern Star meeting installed new officers led by Julia Rogge as acuba and W M Henrietta Wolters. Officers listed include W P W C Schmidt, A M Miss Leonida Schumann secretary treasurer Mae Hughs and other named roles. Stores in Shiner to close for the big American Legion celebration next Monday June 20.
The church will hold morning services at 11 o'clock and evening services at 8 o'clock next Sunday. Everyone is warmly invited to attend.
Chas Pillar will leave July for New York City to attend the Woodmen of the World National Convention. He represents members who oppose the extremely high rate increase pushed by head officers and will join a large faction preparing a determined fight at the convention.
The Texas cotton acreage is expected to drop by about 4,000,000 acres in 1921, a 33 percent reduction. E. F. Shropshire, director of the cotton division, notes the estimate is based on 1,900 county reports from 170 counties with multiple estimates in many counties.
Lockhart merchants show strong faith in printers ink with six pages of ads from three leading traders. The Gonzales Inquirer notes this bold display, alongside their regular advertising.
County Court notes the first week jury discharge by County Judge Summerlane. Frank Kolos pleads not guilty but found guilty for abusive language and fined $25. Ernest Krauskopf cases continued. Civil suit Luedke Schaeffer Shoe Co versus Lucas Rehmer ends in default judgment on account.
Arrangements are being made for the dedication of the new Catholic church on or about July 14.
Mrs. C W Burns, a long time resident of Flatonia, died Monday after a brief illness. Interment was in Flatonia cemetery. Survived by husband and three daughters Mrs H A Woods of San Antonio, Mrs R A Wheeler of Savannah GA, and Miss Neva Burns of Houston. Also note: cotton around 104 cents.
The Kolar Stanek Post of the American Legion postpones the Flag Day celebration to Monday June 20 at Bluecher Park. The program remains the same with parade, speeches, baseball games and a grand ball at night. Everyone is invited to attend.
During a rainstorm last Sunday lightning entered the home of John Fischnar creating a roof hole and burning through to several rooms. No ceiling hole could be found and torn wire screens littered the doors while splinters were found in a side door. A fire-like flash burned through the rooms but no injuries occurred.
The Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion met last Wednesday at the Legion Home to finalize plans for the Flag Day celebration. The group holds meetings on the second Wednesday monthly, with July 12 the next gathering, inviting interested and eligible ladies to join and support soldiers at home and in Texas hospitals.
