Death of Mrs. Eliza Welhausen in Shiner

After a prolonged illness Mrs. Eliza Welhausen died suddenly last Sunday evening about 6 30 o'clock in Shiner. Her funeral is set for Friday evening at 4 o'clock June 17, due to her son Charles being in New York. The community mourns her loss and a full obituary will appear in the next issue.

Immanuel Lutheran Church to Install Rev Stoppenhagen

Immanuel's Evangelical Lutheran Church will have no services on the 19th as the pastor is designated to install Rev Stoppenhagen. Next Sunday there will be services with Holy Communion. preparatory service begins at 9 45 a m. Announcement for Holy Communion requested during the week. H C Biermann, Pastor.

New Faculty at Moulton for Upcoming School Year

The Moulton Independent School District board elects a new staff for the coming scholastic session. T N Powell will serve as superintendent, joined by Miss Helen Ruhman principal and several teachers from Shiner Luling Waller Yorktown Moulton and other towns. Temporary arrangements include Miss Valentina Marik absenteeism and Mr Arthur Krueger replacing her.

Mrs C W Burns Dies at Flatonia After Short Illness

Mrs. C W Burns, a long time resident of Flatonia, died Monday after a brief illness. Interment was in Flatonia cemetery. Survived by husband and three daughters Mrs H A Woods of San Antonio, Mrs R A Wheeler of Savannah GA, and Miss Neva Burns of Houston. Also note: cotton around 104 cents.

Legion Celebration Postponed For Flag Day Parade

The Kolar Stanek Post of the American Legion postpones the Flag Day celebration to Monday June 20 at Bluecher Park. The program remains the same with parade, speeches, baseball games and a grand ball at night. Everyone is invited to attend.

A Queer Freak Of Lightning Strikes Home

During a rainstorm last Sunday lightning entered the home of John Fischnar creating a roof hole and burning through to several rooms. No ceiling hole could be found and torn wire screens littered the doors while splinters were found in a side door. A fire-like flash burned through the rooms but no injuries occurred.

Women’s Auxiliary Plans Flag Day Involvement

The Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion met last Wednesday at the Legion Home to finalize plans for the Flag Day celebration. The group holds meetings on the second Wednesday monthly, with July 12 the next gathering, inviting interested and eligible ladies to join and support soldiers at home and in Texas hospitals.
