The speakers committee set the guest speaker date for the remaining days of the fair inviting Congressman Mansfield to address the citizenship on Friday June 26. In 1928 Mans field was guest on the third day and history repeats with Hon J J Mansfield confirmed to honor the Shiner Fair Association.
The first booster trip assembles in front of the Corner Drug Store Tuesday morning and departs at 8 for Yorktown Cuero Hallettsville Sweet Home Yoakum Nordheim and Westhoff. The second trip on Thursday morning June 18 covers Gonzales Waelder Fationa Schulenburg Weimar La Grange and Moulton with the band accompanying both trips.
The Business Men's Club will meet tonight in regular session at Goudelock Cafe, beginning promptly at seven o'clock.
An important meeting of the Game and Fish Protective League will be held tonight at City Hall, promptly at 8 o'clock.
The Blohm building hosts a Friday night meeting for all Boy Scouts. Attendance is imperative as very important instructions will be given by Paul Berckenhoff, Scout Master.
Robert Kalous of Weimar and Billie Voss of Moulton visit the home of Superintendent and Mrs. McDonald to receive special summer instructions in a small community gathering.
The Lutheran Ladies' Aid met June 3 at 3 o'clock in United Dr. Martin Luther Church. Rev Schuetze led Hebrews 9. President Mrs Aug Schramm invited visitors. June 11 an ice cream social on the church lawn with various entertainments and a fishing pond. An out of town guest was Mrs Kupatt of Nixon. Meeting adjourned with song and prayer. Reporter notes July 1 gathering.
The Houston Chronicle published a Yoakum Tom Tom views page highlighting Shiner’s float in a top column position. Shinerites celebrated as the feature received ample space and Chamber of Commerce official Sect. Denmark sent a letter of appreciation for the notable publicity.
Only ten days remain to prepare for Shiner s big Fair. Send homecoming cards now and get floats in shape for the parade. The Gazette s next issue will be the last before the Fair so submit final notices early.
Senator L J Sulak has accepted the Shiner Fair Association invitation to close the big fair on Saturday June 27. The event will cap the last day with an expected large crowd greeting the guest speaker.
The Banjes Demonstration Club meets Monday June 165 at the home of Mrs W J Menke at 1 30 PM Promptly All members who have not had their foundation patterns checked are asked to bring patterns paper and material The demonstration topic is Flower Arrangements Members should attend as this is the last meeting before the Fair Visitors are welcome.
The St Elizabeth Society annual meeting convened after mass with prayer. Officers were elected with Mrs John Kasper as president and Miss Martha Derrick as vice president, plus re-elected secretary and treasurer. A flag detail and finance committee were also named.
Hallettsville educator Supt Boethel told Shiner subscribers Saturday he would enter the Lavaca County representative race and planned a formal announcement in a few days.
A school organization failed to return a bunch of keys to Mr Welhausen after using the Blohm building before the Garden Club Flower Show. The building serves the public free of charge but will be closed for any further use unless the keys are found and returned.
Pupils of Mrs Thulemeyer presented a well attended piano recital last week at the High School auditorium. The event featured violin numbers from Miss Melba Welhausen, dancers from Lothrop Studio and vocal performances from Mrs L E Denmarks class. The stage was attractively decorated and the children reflected thorough instruction.

DeWitt Nowlin extends thanks to friends and patrons for splendid patronage while agent of Sinclair Oil Co. He urges continued support for the new agent and trusts it will be extended.
The weekly revival season began Sunday night at the Methodist Church with Rev Beall of Yoakum delivering a stirring sermon. Rev Guyon, the pastor, leads a vacation Bible School each morning at 8 30 assisted by Rev Burns of the Baptist Church. The school welcomes all Shiner children from primary level up. Supervisors help with activities for kindergarten. Rev Barton of Yoakum will preach nightly this week. The Baptist congregation contributes to the program and all Christians and friends are invited and urged to attend.
Immanuel Lutheran Church invites all to Sunday School at 9 45 a m and a German service with Holy Communion at 10 30 a m Pastor A Bohot leads the worship and welcomes everyone to attend
Rite Made Ice Cream is advertised as containing all essentials for body building and is pitched as enjoyable for children, with Shi ner Drug Co. highlighted in the notice.
The United Dr Martin Luther Church schedules Sunday School at 9:00 a m Divine Service at 10:00 a m and English Service at 8:00 p m at Dreyer Lutheran Church On Thursday June 11 ice cream social by the Ladies Aid and June 18 Brotherhood Social at Welhausen pasture The Ladies Aid Social on June 11 invites all candidates for a short personal introduction The Charlie Kaspar band will provide music and all are welcome for Christian fellowship Rev Richard Schuetze.
Hallettsville Christian Science churches plan Sunday service at 11 a m with the lesson titled God the Preserver of Man. The Golden Text promises fear not for I am with thee and I will strengthen and uphold thee, reflecting the faith message for the day.
Hon Roy Sanderford will address Yoakum residents Friday June 12 at 8 PM in support of his candidacy for Governor. The event aims to rally voters and outline his platform for statewide leadership.
The Ladies Aid of United Dr Martin Luther Church invites the public to an ice cream social on the church lawn next Thursday night, June 11th. Public cordial ly invited.
No preaching at the Baptist Church until the first Sunday in July. Rev. Burns and the congregation aid the Methodist meeting. During a prayer service last Wednesday the membership gave Rev. Burns a two week vacation and hinted at his return with a bridal shower. They paid tribute to Mrs. Joe Hughs and Mrs. C. C. Amsler for 25 years of faithful service with praise for the silver anniversary of handling the church offerings.
Stores will be closed all the first day of the Fair and close at noon on the second and third days. They will not close on Saturday the last day. Exemptions include filling stations meat markets cafes bakeries and cold drink stands.
Mrs. E A Juengerman will oversee the dining at the fair with both dinner and supper served. She assures attendees that no one will go hungry and that success is expected in this line.
All members of the agricultural and farm exhibits committee are summoned to a special session next Saturday at 2 30 PM. The meeting is held at Temple Lumber Co. Fredr Remmers serves as chairman.
The annual Tom Tom parade in Shiner Texas impressed with every feature. Businesses closed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the parade. The City of Shiner entry Texas Under Six Flags drew praise. Spoetzl Brewery also sent a striking float. Royalty reflected community pride with Miss Marie Komcaba as Duchess and Joe Zahradnick as Duke supporting the Queen's Court.
Milton Jowers, formerly from Mc Mahon and a Gonzales county boy, has been elected principal of Shiner High. The Primary Department vacancy remains unfilled. E H Patton praises the home economics department as one of the district’s best and credits the community.
Congratulations go to Ewald Effenberger for completing his course at A. and M. College and receiving his degree at the recent commencement.
Dr J W Boyle and his wife Ev and children Jo and Carlos Dean Monroe left Saturday at 2 P M for Clovis New Mexico to attend the funeral of Dr Boyle's mother The community shares sympathy for the physician whose mother had been ill for some time and her death was not unexpected
