The Shiner Fair marks its second day on Thursday June 25 as Home Coming Day with Leslie C. Merrem of San Antonio chosen to deliver the Home Coming Address. Merrem, a San Antonio scholar, is praised for eloquence and cultural attainments and is described as a home town favorite.

The first booster trip leaves Tuesday morning June 16 for the south. A second booster trip departs Thursday June 18 for points north. The band will accompany both trips and a large delegation is invited, especially rural residents, to join the motorcades.

A mammoth street parade opens the ninth annual Tomato Tom Tom and Centennial celebration at 11:00 Friday morning June 5. The festival runs two days with over 50 floats depicting Texas history under six flags and is expected to draw a record crowd with state and national officials attending and an elaborate entertainment program planned.
The second car load of onions was loaded and shipped out Tuesday, marking another move amid a deluge of rain that ruined a once fine crop in this vicinity. Market prices were poor, and torrential rains ended the season.
