Misprinted Minnesota Diplomas Minted With False He Titles
At the University of Minnesota a batch of diplomas for the 1908 June class bore the word he instead of she. About 200 diplomas were printed before the error was spotted. The engraver left the space for each recipient blank before adding the recipient's name by hand, while the wording referred to the graduate as him. The flawed sheepskins, printed by a Philadelphia bank-note company, could not be corrected and were distributed anyway.
