Henry Vincik brought in the first 1943 cotton bale in Shiner on Friday July 23. The bale, ginned free by Shiner Farmers Gin, weighed 527 pounds, classified middling rough, and sold to C B Welhausen for 20 cents per pound. Seed check at 45 dollars per ton brought 18.56. Shiner Chamber of Commerce contributed 10. Vincik previously delivered the first bale on August 4 last year, weighing 416 pounds and selling for 18 cents.

Lightning Kills Eight Hogs Seeking Shelter

Business Men Sponsor Cigarette Drive for Soldiers
