Weimar Mercury reports Mayor George Herder, while inspecting cattle in the lower country, drank gasoline from a jug mistaken for water. He became very ill but recovered after vomiting, with danger passing after some hours.
Next Sunday at 8 15 p m the Methodist Church hosts services led by Pastor Rev J W McWhorter with special music by Miss Stella Wolters and P A Wendtland on violin and clarinet and a vocal number by Miss Fern Richter.

A Gonzales County Democratic Women’s League resolution commends Judge C K Quinn of Columbus Texas as a man of high character and ability and pledges votes and support in the July 22 1922 Democratic Primary. The notice urges Democratic voters to unite behind Quin for reelection and notes an adoption at a July 12 1922 meeting. A separate line mentions Pesci district manager for J J Mansfield reelection bid visiting the city last Saturday and Ossek’s optimistic view of Mansfield’s success.
Texas Synod of the United Lutheran Church of America met in Shiner continuing the Cuero conference. Pastors and delegates arrived Tuesday, with services led by Rev. Sievert and Rev. Lentz. Officers were elected, including Wallsdorf as president and Curra as treasurer, while numerous pastors and visitors attended and were hosted by the Ladies Aid.
H Fiato Jr and R E Wehalhausen of Kingsville and Mrs Sophia Amsler of Cuero visited relatives earlier this week. Each candidate for representative to the legislature appeared last Saturday, mingling with voters and expressing strong hopes of re election.
Base Ball News reports that manager Chas Longoria guided the local team to a 7 to 4 win at Dunbena last Wednesday. They followed with an 18 to 11 victory over Waelder on Friday, extending their winning run.
Paul H. Fertseh, candidate for County Attorney of Lavaca County, is described as an efficient man and worthy of the voters support at the upcoming Primary Election this Saturday.
Those attending the funeral of the late E. B. Kesler at Schuenenburg Sunday were E. F. Wolters and wife, Wm. Wendtland Jr. and wife, Miss Stelle Wolters, Mesdames Max Wolters and Sophia Amsler, Miss Clara Welhausen and Gussie Wolter.
Fans traveled to Cuero for a clean game but left disappointed as Shiner forfeited after three innings amid decisions protested by Cuero fans and several requests for new umpires. It marks Shiner’s first forfeiture in club history and drew harsh remarks from Yoakum visitors.
Alfred Schulak aged 24 died at his West Street home yesterday at 1 30 pm The funeral will leave his late residence at 2 30 this afternoon for Shiner where interment will be in the City Cemetery He is survived by his wife and mother Mrs Joe Schulak and Misses Eien and Wilma of Shiner Mrs Henry Hollub of Hattiesburg Mrs Alfred Huebner of Shiner and one brother Charlie Schulak of Shiner He was employed at Ebner Hermes grocery on Grand Avenue The Times extends sympathy to the bereaved family Yeakum Times July 13

The United Dr. Martin Luther Church invites attendance at Sunday School at 9 oclock, services at 10 15 am and a night service at 8 15 am on Sunday July 23. Pastor W C Wolfsdorf signs the invitation.
The auditing committee reported favorably, annual reports approved, and much favorable comment given on the OBS flot in the Fourth of July parade. A rising vote of thanks was extended to Erwin Wagener, Henry Lee, Henry Schroeder, and Roy M. Canon for assistance in decorating.
Adolph Schulz informs the Gazette he has just returned from Beeville to look after farming interests near there. He reports prospects very good for a good crop of cotton in that section.
The funeral of Mrs. Katherine Sommerlatte was held from her son's home, F. C. Sommerlatte, last Thursday July 13, with interment in City Cemetery. She was past 87. Rev. Wors dof conducted the service. Survived by daughters Mrs. H. Wagner of Jourdanten and Mrs. Chas. Ger'and, Deenvile, and Mrs. Jed Richter of WPreshbiare KC.
The Queen of Steba, a William Fox production at the Liberty Theatre, was billed as a premier attraction last Monday and Tuesday. Patrons say the current management offers poor pictures and insufficient crowds, while original bookings cost extra and caused financial losses. Local shift in support and calls for better or cheaper offerings spark debate among Shiner and surrounding community.
Louis Marish, 20, a United States Aviation Department worker, was killed in a gravel pit accident and buried at Moravia Coyote Cemetery near Moulton Texas. He was a native of Laveeca county and had been employed at the pit when the accident occurred.
Students from Porcupine College Lisle Illinois toured the state performing a play titled Last Pete tie a Bile pe week. Cast included Ed Havel and Ed Tesler for Sinner boys. Costume effects drew favorable comment and the portrayal was praised.
Mrs Victor Wolters and her son Max Jr return from an extended visit to San Antonio, where they spent time visiting relatives and sightseeing.
