Gonzales Rites Held For Pioneer Texas Judge Fly
Funeral services were held in Gonzales First Methodist Church for F. M. Fly 96 longtime Gonzales County resident and former justice of the peace who died July 14 from a heart attack. A banker and former sheriff he served 16 years as JP and was active in York Rite Masons and local history. He is survived by wife Stella Miller and six children. Burial followed at Masonic Cemetery in Gonzales.

John J Netardus Dies At Jourdanton
John J Netardus of Jourdanton died at his home on July 14 1962 after several months illness at age 71 years seven months and ten days. Funeral arrangements were at the Jourdanton Funeral Home and Jourdanton Catholic Church with Solemn High Mass at 9:00 a.m. Burial followed in Jourdanton Catholic Cemetery. He was born December 4 1890 near Hallettsville and lived on a Wied area farm before moving to Jourdanton in 1934. He had first wife Constance Kubena who died in 1918 leaving a daughter. later married Elizabeth Kallus with seven children. Surviving are his wife Elizabeth and their children plus many relatives and twenty grandchildren. He was survived by brothers and sisters in Texas and was predeceased by several siblings. Attendees from Shiner included Mr and Mrs Joe Strauss and Mrs Agnes Kutach.

First Lavaca cotton bale bought by Esse Co
The first bale of cotton was ginned July 17 1962 by Reinhold Dietschke of Moulton. It graded Strict Low Middling Plus Staple 1 inch. A substantial bonus was paid by Herbert Esse Cotton Co in Shi ner and by the gin. It was ginned by the Farmers Coop Gin in Moulton.
