Edward O Hirsch of Cuero died Sunday June 28 1964 at Sulphur Park while attending a family reunion He was a retired farmer aged 66 years 9 months and 21 days Funeral services were held June 30 at Buffington Funeral Home Shiner and SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church Burial was in Shiner Catholic Cemetery Pallbearers were Lester Ullmann Walter Buesing Edgar Wenske Daniel Pokluda Freddie Hirsch and Oscar Hirsch Rosary was recited June 29 at 8 p.m. He is survived by his wife Margaret a son Daniel Hirsch two daughters Dorothy Helt and Beatrice Brown twelve grandchildren and several siblings The obituary notes numerous relatives and a religious service sentiment followed by theater listing for The Young Swingers at the Palace Theatre.

Impressive Rites At Methodist Church For Mrs. McComas

Mrs. Wilson R. McComas nee Ella Richter died June 21 1964 at Trinity Lutheran Home aged 83 11 4. Her funeral was at First Methodist Church Shiner with Rev. Edmund Deane officiating and graveside at Shiner City Cemetery. Pallbearers included Jeff Mikulik Eddie Jaks Glenn Wagener Gilbert Kasper Erwin Stratman and Ewald Erdelt. Mrs McComas was born July 17 1880 in Weimar Colorado County Texas and lived in Shiner most of her life. She married Wilson R. McComas in 1915 and after military service they settled in Shiner. She was a lifelong helper to children and sewed garments for relatives and others. Her husband died in 1948 and she resided in the Lutheran Home since 1963. She was survived by a brother Adolph Richter of Shiner and many nieces and nephews.

Gigantic Legion Parade and Picnic in Shiner July Fourth

A full day of gala entertainment is planned at Legion Park Shiner on Saturday July 4. The event features a 10 30 a m parade downtown with entrants from many nearby cities and locals. Meals include beef stew and barbecued chicken at 11 00 a m and sausage supper at 5 00 p m. Family activities rides and music from the Shiner Hobo Band Joe Patek Orchestra and The Quintettes.
