New Oil Well at Laling Unlocks Production Rise

J C Blohm and Lewis Traut witnessed the third well on the Company lease at Laling oil field coming in Sunday night. The field now flows about 1200 to 1400 barrels daily. Luling oil has climbed 50 percent in ten days, pleasing local stockholders.

Colquitt Calls On Local Office With Pan-American Notes

Hon R M Colquitt of Houston and Jos Muras of Shiner visited the Colquitt Agency, sharing Pan-American literature and prize disclosures. Muras won the diamond fob for largest business while Wade won the gold fob. Shiner High Wins Double Header at Bluechers Park

Shiner High defeated Moulton teams in a Monday night pair at indoor Bluechers Park. The boys won 31 to 17 with Chraddock of Yoakum officiating. the girls triumphed 19 to 8 with referees Miss Remmers of Moulton and Miss Lea of Shiner.

German Relief Report Details Contributions To Germany

Rev J C A Pfenninger presented a full report on relief gifts collected through the National Lutheran Council of America, aided by the Ladies' Aid of the United Dr Martin Luther Ghiaren. Sixty gallons of lard were sent to Bremen via Galveston on January 21, and seventy five dollars in cash was contributed, with space limits preventing full publication of the list.

Mrs Perry Hosts Ladies Aid Meeting at Home

A Ladies Aid gathering of the M. K. Church met at Mrs. W. R. Perry's home last Wednesday afternoon. Officers elected were Haber macher president Wolters vice president Welhinson secretary Perry assistant secretary Thulempeyer treasurer. A dollar drive was planned for church painting with a $10 donation from C L Williams and $4 from Temple Lumber. Treasurer reported receipts $178.59, disbursements $165.54, balance $13.05. Refreshments enjoyed despite heavy rain. members were driven home in Julius Konaikovsky’s closed truck.

Death of Steven Jaks in Gonzales 1924

Steven Jaks died at his Gonzales home on Monday January 21 1924 at 8 15 am aged 60. Born in Austria he came to the United States at 19. He married Annie Ludacek in Praha and lived near Shiner before moving to Gonzales three years ago. Funeral at St James Gonzales with Father Ledwiz. burial at St Cyril and Methodius Shiner. Survived by wife and nine children.
