J C Blohm and Lewis Traut witnessed the third well on the Company lease at Laling oil field coming in Sunday night. The field now flows about 1200 to 1400 barrels daily. Luling oil has climbed 50 percent in ten days, pleasing local stockholders.
Hon R M Colquitt of Houston and Jos Muras of Shiner visited the Colquitt Agency, sharing Pan-American literature and prize disclosures. Muras won the diamond fob for largest business while Wade won the gold fob. Evans details from Gonzales report highlight a serious auto crash and subsequent life-insurance claim, with a beneficiary thanking Pan-American for prompt settlement.
Shiner High defeated Moulton teams in a Monday night pair at indoor Bluechers Park. The boys won 31 to 17 with Chraddock of Yoakum officiating. the girls triumphed 19 to 8 with referees Miss Remmers of Moulton and Miss Lea of Shiner.
Annie Zivans endorses Pan-American Life Insurance Company and notes a policy benefiting a minor, with check handling by Mr Muras and delivery to agent Wade. A 25th wedding anniversary celebration was held Thursday night at Bluecher Park. Mrs O C Henkhans and her husband welcomed friends and family extending an invitation through the Gazette to join in the celebration and share in the joy.
Rev J C A Pfenninger presented a full report on relief gifts collected through the National Lutheran Council of America, aided by the Ladies' Aid of the United Dr Martin Luther Ghiaren. Sixty gallons of lard were sent to Bremen via Galveston on January 21, and seventy five dollars in cash was contributed, with space limits preventing full publication of the list.
A Ladies Aid gathering of the M. K. Church met at Mrs. W. R. Perry's home last Wednesday afternoon. Officers elected were Haber macher president Wolters vice president Welhinson secretary Perry assistant secretary Thulempeyer treasurer. A dollar drive was planned for church painting with a $10 donation from C L Williams and $4 from Temple Lumber. Treasurer reported receipts $178.59, disbursements $165.54, balance $13.05. Refreshments enjoyed despite heavy rain. members were driven home in Julius Konaikovsky’s closed truck.
A 15-jewel Elgin ladies wrist watch is reported lost with instruction to return it to this office for a reward.
An enjoyable Five Hundred Club gathering took place Friday afternoon at Mrs. B R Holehails home. Three tables were set in the decorated living room and high score went to Mrs B J Tomasco who received a cream and sugar set. Leonida Schumann won consolation for a dainty linen handkerchief. a salad course followed with guests including Misses Hughs and Schumann and Mesdames Peck Wehausern Walter Mueck To mase Henkhaus, Longoria, Fink, Valena and Merrem.

Steven Jaks died at his Gonzales home on Monday January 21 1924 at 8 15 am aged 60. Born in Austria he came to the United States at 19. He married Annie Ludacek in Praha and lived near Shiner before moving to Gonzales three years ago. Funeral at St James Gonzales with Father Ledwiz. burial at St Cyril and Methodius Shiner. Survived by wife and nine children.
The C K O Z B Club raised over one hundred dollars at a Monday night barn dance held in the Opera House. The venue was transformed into an acorn and hay stable with unusually themed costumes, drawing notable attendance.
Dr Critchfield, a specialist from Galveston, was summoned to the bedside of Mrs Dr Garbade last weekend to provide medical care and consultation.
The Civic Club met January 24, 1924, at Mrs. B. Welhausen's home with 14 members. Dues totaled $24.10 after the treasurer's report. Plans were set for a Leap Year dance at Bluecher Park on February 29. Officers elected for the year: President J.C. Blohm, Vice President A. Schulz, Secretary Leohida Schumann, Treasurer C. BR. Welhausen. The meeting adjourned to February 28 at Mrs. Welhausen's home.

The remains of Mrs. J. Jalufka were laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday morning with burial services conducted by Mother Netardus.
The Gazette extendsTender empathy to the bereaved family on the passing of a loved mother. The funeral left Yoakum passing through Shiner about 12 oclock Tuesday. Services were conducted at Moulton Lutheran Church with burial at Baursville cemetery. A more extended notice will be given next week.
O S Meyer expects to relocate soon to a new home in Hast find. The planned residence will be a modern five room California bungalow with all modern improvements and will be a notable addition to this section of the city.
The home of Gus Jaroszewski has been completely overhauled and is now a very attractive and comfortable Shi'ner residence. Modern interior improvements include new papering, a delightful half story room, hard wood floors, and a very comfortable sun parlor.
Mr and Mrs William Green departed this week to attend to business interests in Lubbock, taking along their household. The couple plans to return once the matters are settled.
Mrs Roy M Cannon and Mass ter Dennis Eugene, accompanied by Miss Annie Hart, left Saturday for Runge.
