Fire Department Oyster Supper Draws Shiner Crowd

The Shiner Fire Department hosted its annual oyster supper at the Blohm building with about 50 attendees. Guests from Yoakum and local dignitaries praised the department for timely calls and community service, while weathered supporters gathered for Appreciations Day the following Wednesday.

Mrs Bertha Kasper of Shiner died Friday morning at 8 o clock after a short illness aged 78 years 7 months 23 days born in Prussia May 29 1858 she came to America in 1893 with her son Frank Tassler Sr and 8 grandchildren 3 great grandchildren she is survived by her son 8 grandchildren 3 great grandchildren a sister in San Antonio and six Kasper step sons funeral was held Sunday from the family home to St Cyril and Methodius church for Requiem High Mass with Msgr Netardus and burial in Shiner Catholic cemetery pall bearers were grandsons Frank Tasler Jr Joe Eddie John Norbert and Edgar Tasler.
