First National Names Officials In Regular Meeting

In a New Year session the First National Bank of Shiner announced its officers for the coming year. Peck Welhausen remains president with Ray Welhausen as vice president Glade Welhausen serves as cashier and Mrs Valasta Richter as assistant cashier. August H Maneth is named as an assistant cashier continuing in a new official capacity. All officers were re elected.

Dates Set For New Grower Allotments

The final dates for requests are February 4 for New Grower Peanut, February 15 for New Grower Rice, and February 25 for New Grower Cotton. All requests must be made in person at the County ASC Office in Hallettsville where forms are available, per A. J. Peters.

Dairy Marts Donate Proceeds for March of Dimes

On Saturday January 29 Dairy Marts across Texas will donate that day’s sales proceeds from Tasty Sweet products to the March of Dimes. In Shiner the program starts at noon with entertainment on the grounds and records to be played by Herbert Wendel.

Barn Dance Draws Lavaca County Farmers to Moulton Hall

Lavaca County Farm Bureau invites all to a Barn Dance at the Moulton VFW Hall on Saturday February 5 with music by the Emil Bartos band admission 50 cents. Local chairman Clyde Otto coordinates. Delafa District names officers for 1955 Scouting year

The Delafa District of the Capitol Area Council held its annual meeting in Austin on January 19 at the Commodore Perry Hotel. Wilford L. Turner of Austin was elected Council President. Dr. John V. Connolly of Shiner received District Chairman honors and Dr. August Watzlavick of Schulenburg became District Commissioner. The Silver Beaver honors went to Pat Dooley Austin George Van Fleet Austin H C Harrs Giddings Sam Burk Luling and Dr Joe C Carrington Jr Austin. The Administrative and Program groups and area reps were named, laying out the 1955 Delafa District youth program for ages eight to seventeen.
