The 1962 price supports for Texas crops were set by Secretary Freeman. Upland cotton minimum is 31.88 cents per pound, long staple 53.17 cents net, and support equals 82 percent and 65 percent of parity respectively. Peanuts at 221 per ton, rice at 4.71 per cwt, and honey at 11.2 cents per pound. Rice quotas decision due January 23.

Lavaca County Chosen for National Family Spending Study

Lavaca County is selected as one of 126 counties for a national survey by the U S Department of Agriculture and the Department of Labor to study household purchases and spending. The United Dr. Martin Luther Church held its annual meeting on Sunday January 21 with reports for 1961 and a plan for 1962. Membership, average service attendance and financial support rose, while the 1962 budget above $28 000 was approved. Funeral Services Held Friday For Willie V. Roeder

Funeral services for Willie V. Roeder of Route 1 Shiner were held Friday January 19 1962 at 9:30 am from Buffington Funeral Home Chapel and 10:00 am Requiem Mass at Shiner Catholic Church. Interment followed in Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Roeder died January 17 at 2:40 am in Frank Wagner Memorial Hospital at age 71 years seven months and 12 days. He was born in Lavaca County June 5 1890 and married Nora Hirsch. Survived by his widow three brothers Frank J Roeder Edmund V Roeder and Irwin H Roeder all of Shiner two sisters Emma Proschko of Portland and Hilda Hirsch of Alice father-in-law August Hirsch of Shiner. Preceded by parents Frank J and Theresa Neuister Roeder and one brother.

Vine Sykora 85 Dies in Shiner January 10 1962

Vine Sykora of Moulton died at Frank Wagner Memorial Hospital in Shiner on Wednesday January 10 1962 at age 85. He and his wife and children came from Czechoslovakia in 1912 and lived on a farm near Moulton. Funeral services were held January 12 at Smith Funeral Home and St. Josephs Catholic Church with burial in Moulton Catholic Cemetery. Surviving are son Jim Sykora of Houston and three daughters plus seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mrs Anton Palitza Dies in Gonzales Hospital

Mrs. Anton Palitza of Moulton died at Crews Hospital in Gonzales on Sunday January 14 1962 after major surgery. She was 65.
