Rites Pending for Elo A. Fisseler Retired USN Chief Warrant Officer

Elo A. Fisseler 58 died from injuries in a car crash Monday morning in Miami. He passed away Tuesday at Doctors Hospital at 4 20 am. Funeral plans were being arranged at Carl F Slade Funeral Home. His wife Lucille died December 20 1968. Relatives Herman J Barre and Oscar Fisseler traveled to Florida to attend services.

Alphonse Stang Named Deputy In Lavaca County

Sheriff Ronnie Dodds appoints Alphonse Stang of Komensky to head the northern Lavaca County deputy sheriff post pending commissioners court approval. Stang replaces Bill Kortwig of Moulton, who resigned effective January 1 1969 after about 12 years in the role. Stang resigned as Precinct 2 constable after three years.

Ben Schraer of Moulton died January 4 1969 at the Veterans Hospital in Houston after a brief illness. Funeral rites at Joseph’s Church Moulton and burial in Moulton Catholic Cemetery followed a concelebrated Mass and military graveside honors by local posts. He was a WWI veteran, survived by his wife Josephine and 9 children, with 19 grandchildren.

Elizabeth Ann Wachtendorf died at 1 year 1 month 25 days after a brief illness. Dance Club Dues Deadline Adjusted for Shiner Members

Reminder to Shiner Dance Club members that dues must be paid by January 31. The previous deadline caused income estimation problems for booking bands. Dues paid after the date create vacancies for couples on the waiting list. Regulations will be enforced as usual.

IRS reminds employers of W-2 deadlines for 1968 wages

The Internal Revenue Service urges that employees receive two copies of Form W-2 by Friday January 31 1969. William A. Stanton of the IRS in Victoria explains that the form shows total wages and taxes withheld for 1968 and notes sick pay must be included in wages though not listed separately. If corrections are needed a revised statement marked corrected by employer must be issued.

Bloomington hunters Robert Boedeker and Charles White celebrate limits from last season with a 12 pointer and 9 pointer on Donavan White ranch. Funeral Services Held Friday For Joseph Derrich

Funeral services for Joseph Derrich of Shiner were held Friday after his death at 11 45 a m on January 8 1969 at Frank Wagner Memorial Hospital. Born January 13 1891 near Shiner he lived in Gonzales County and worked as a carpenter. Burial followed at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Cemetery. He leaves sisters Martha and Mary Derrich and a large extended family.

The Shiner City Cemetery Association urges payment of 1969 dues for lot and walk upkeep with rates 3.00 for walks, 8.00 for full lot and walks, and 4.00 for half lot and walks.
