William Neubauer Dies After Illness at 64
William Neubauer died at 8:45 p m Wednesday at the family home two miles north of town after a five week illness. The funeral was held Friday at 2 p m at Charlottenburg Church with Rev R Schuetze officiating. Burial followed in Charlottenburg Cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Schovassa Elo Riske Otto Granz Edwin Mikeska Edmud Koenning and Edwin Tenberg. Survivors include nine sons Fritz Willie Edwin Arthur Herbert of here Albert and August of Hallettsville Carl and Arnold of Fort Sam Houston. one daughter Mrs Willie Heidrich of Breslau. eight grandchildren. two brothers Fritz and Carl of here. three sisters Mrs Emma Koenning of here Mrs Annie Koenning and Miss Augusta Neubauer of Hallettsville. One son Walter died in 1922. He was 64 years, 1 month and 24 days old. He was born in the old country and came to America at age seven. He married Clara Werner forty one years ago. The community notes his character and long service, and sympathy is extended to the bereaved.

James Krametbauer Jr died Wednesday afternoon at three weeks old. Father Bily conducted last rites at the Catholic Church and graveside services Thursday. Pallbearers were George Wagner and Johnnie Krametbauer. Survived by parents Mr and Mrs Frank Krametbauer Jr, a sister Agnes, and grandparents Mr and Mrs Frank Krametbauer Sr and Mr and Mrs Joe Lahodny. Sympathy offered to the bereaved.

Mrs Anna Kosarek died January 6 at her daughter's home in Corpus Christi aged 82 years seven months and 24 days. Burial was at Poth. Surviving are eight children including Rank and Florian of San Antonio Jim of Poth Joe of Kokernot John and Christine Carroll of Los Angeles Calif Mrs Emily Turek of Shiner Mary Havel of Corpus Christi and 34 grandchildren 35 great grandchildren four brothers and a sister Frances Woluska of Lakeside Oregon. Deceased formerly lived in this community and many here mourn her passing.

Shiner saw no fires in 1937 with one false alarm. Residents praised for weed and trash control and regular fire hazard inspections. The fire department drilled regularly and maintained equipment. The city received a 600 gallon sea grave pumper. the department donated a 500 gallon pumper with 300 gallon booster tank funded by dues, fines, and benefits. Cooperation for a fire free 1938 requested.

The Er meeting of the Chamber Commerce held January 6 at City Hall approved November minutes and paid a $102.21 bill to Shiner Hardware for Christmas street lighting materials. Bills of $62.01 for the Community Christmas tree sponsorship were discussed with the Business Men's Club paying part and the chamber covering the rest. President Schmidt reported on the Gonzales Chamber banquet. members were urged to list rooming accommodations for Highway 200 work. The secretary said job seekers should wait for a public notice before approaching the National Employment Service. If the Bureau of Public Roads approves the State Highway Commission plan, the route from Smothers Creek on Highway 72 to Gonzales may begin soon. The meeting adjourned with secretary L. E. Denmark and President Schmidt.
